While Caldwell-Pope improved a bit in his overall game, the Pistons will have to make a decision about whether he’s a long-term fit in the Pistons’ plans. He said Tuesday he isn’t worried about re-signing this summer and will leave those issues to his agent, as he could have a breakout season and increase his value.
“We’ll have to have discussions and see what’s important to Kentavious and have a sense of where they’re at with the whole thing,” Bower said. “(Re-signing) is something that doesn’t have to take place, but what does have to take place is an understanding of what time frames are important, how he understands his place and role here.
“The beginning of that dialog hasn’t taken place yet.”
Caldwell-Pope could demand upward of $13-15 million, especially with an exploding salary cap this offseason.

If people are willing to pay dellavedova 10m+, I feel like 13-15 for kcp is pretty reasonable. Especially if he shows more improvement from 3.

You'll see a lot of these articles coming out over the next 3 months where they take portions of the end of season press conference Bower & SVG had & extrapolate that into a fluff piece.
My advice is for everyone to watch the 48 minute press conference and skip the BS articles

Can't be stingy about what you pay quality players when you're not a big FA destination, and the cap is about to spike anyway. Iman freaking Shumpert is making 10 mil a year right now...DeRozan is likely about to get a massive max contract and the dude is putting up 16ppg on 32% shooting in the first round of the playoffs against the 7th seed. I mean, Indiana's not a bad team by any stretch but 32% is 32%.
With what other FAs are about to get paid, I would give KCP 4/60 to re-sign this off season if that's what it took. Unlike Monroe KCP's not complacent and didn't stop getting better after his 2nd season, so I have no qualms about paying him.

Rich Paul is his agent - he'll take him to RFA unless we offer him the max. KCP ain't worth that (15M) money now, so it comes down to how Stan and Jeff believe he'll continue to develop to the point where he'll outperform that. You never sign a player for money you'll think that if they top out they'll earn it - you try to sign players for contracts that will be discounts - target players you believe have more room to improve and sign them at their current value rate.

I would lock him up this summer for 4 years $60 million if we have the chance to do so... There is a very real chance, that if he works on his game this summer and takes another step forward that he's a $80 million over 4 years type player come free agency in 2017.

23 year old who plays really good defense and is improving. Needs to up his shooting ability. Pay Him. If possible pay him now before he improves again.
