4) The cap is going up

none of those guys deserve a playing role other than in bits here and there, so i guess whoever has the best locker room presence?

These are the only dudes I'll bother mentioning from that mammoth list. I like these guys for a variety of reasons...

Trevor Booker
Jason Thompson
Chase Budinger
Alan Anderson
Brandon Rush
Greivis Vasquez

Been a "Vasquez guy" for a while but his lack of D is why I don't talk about him for our team.

Rush is still young enough and hasn't played enough for me to say he's tapped out - some decent size and skills there but not enough film watched for me to talk him up - throw in the fact that SG & SF are our strongest positions as far as depth goes

Anderson is a shooter we could use but again our depth at SG & SF means he's not a priority for me.

Budinger is another "hybrid forward" that I don't believe we need but could play a role on most teams

Thompson I don't believe has ever really found that place where he can be "free". There have been numerous games where he looks awesome (check his game logs) and then he has games where he looks absolutely lost! Some dudes just don't find that team, some do. Maybe we could be that team?

Booker...love his heart and hustle. He's a good "team" kinda guy. I don't think he brings the size we really need at PF when we sit Mook or Harris

Slim pickings...

Vasquez to me would be great if it happened. Love guys with fire and energy. OJ and Thompson maybe the other two

It won't be popular and he might have graduated from the heap, but I want Super Cool Beas. I think he could be a valuable member of the bench mob we need to build.

Jason Thompson- I think he could/would take a small role and then be really effective in spot minutes as well as practice.

Bradon Rush or OJ Mayo- Mayos got the bigger upside, but could also be the bigger issue in less playing time. Rush just seems like he could be a good fit here.

Can't see a point on really anyone else.

Caron Butler for leadership - I sat courtside one time and watched him lay into Monroe and Smith for not giving a crap, loved it.

Beyond that, anyone who can hit 40%+ from 3 is welcome to a vet minimum deal. Novak? Jefferson? Jones? Rasual Butler? Anyone not named Charlie V?

Like Rex said, I wouldn't mind having Butler back. He seemed to be a good mentor for RJ when he first got here. RJ seemed to have passed more frequently too whenever Butler was on with him, so for that alone, I think it'd be a good investment.

B Rush isn't too bad.
And OJ Mayo might be an ok Meeks replacement if he really is done.

Otherwise, you can literally call that list the "zero defense" list.

Give me Lin or Delly or even Livingston if he's available.

Jason Smith is underrated. I think he is a very solid backup. He bangs hard too and doesn't get pushed around. Sort of a bully and strong on defense.
