I hope SVG and Bower pull off another highway robbery trade this off-season. Adding to Dre/RJ/KCP/Mook/SJ/Tobias would make me so happy.

If we could package Meeks, Baynes, 18, and whatever small pieces for a Ricky Rubio, Chandler Parsons, Derrick Favors type...we could book an ECF appearance provided we spent our money wisely in free agency.

I probably don't feel as strongly about it as you but I would love to be able to bring Harris off the bench for 30mpg. I like Morris's defense too much to take him out of the starting line up.

I believe as long as LeBron remains in the East no other team will make the finals. Not until he's well past his prime at least.

We need a better 2-guard and a 4 before we talk about finals. Reggie is cool, but I would trade him for Wall or Bledsoe any day!

I think our core needs upgrades.
There has never been more room for optimism, though. Just need another slick move or 2 from our front office.

Maybe this is a superstars league tho and we don't have one. Maybe when Lebron falls off.

All the people saying that we don't have a true star, that's true. I firmly believe Lebron has his foothold on the East until he's 35.
He just turns it up in the playoffs and his regular season effort makes him look like he's coasting through it as a result. I really don't see how unless we consolidate our assets for a true superstar will we compete to a game 7 with the Cavs any time soon.

Pistons played better in the playoffs than in the regular season by far and didn't win a single playoff game.
Its going to take a lot more work to beat Lebron/Irving or future teams like Celtics who seem to have an excellent coach, talent and lots of picks to add more talent.

I'm sure people will be quick to argue that you don't need a superstar but I'd say this finals only strengthened that notion. The Warriors' superstar disappeared, and for Cleveland another one emerged...I can't speak enough about how well Kyrie played. 27ppg and the series winning shot.
So yeah...I'll just settle for a team that is good enough to at least compete and potentially make it to the ECF. I don't have any aspirations of making the finals or winning a championship as long as LeBron remains in the East & in his prime.

Then once Lebron is out of his prime, Kyrie should be in his with Lebron likely in the Draymond Green role.
The Cavs literally have a dynasty in the making if they play their cards right.

Injury prone Bledsoe lets go do that right now....

I'll trust our medical and physical staff with Bledsoe and take that risk. We need a star-type player to play with Drummond.
Or maybe, we can get Harden????????

Ummm, isn't the Phoenix medical staff considered the best in the league?
If we're looking to trade for a superstar:
Which ones are available besides maybe Butler?

Our medical staff changed since Arnie Kander left I believe. Pheonix has the best medical staff, this is true. But by now medicine's technology has changed and there's all sorts of therapies for every team. Arnie was great at the herbs and supplements and special workouts. I don't imagine teams have all that big of a difference in medical service. It's pretty much all the same.

The league is most definitely a superstar run league and we can't get one outside of Drummond, Stanley Johnson, and trading for players like Kevin Love. I think Kevin will get traded even if they won this season, take a look at Ariza with the Lakers and he was a good reason they won a championship. Many other examples of course. The only way we get a superstar is if one of our players becomes one. The only player with that potential is Stanley Johnson at the moment. Tobias still has potential to be more efficient and Drummond still has another year of improvement left in him. This team will make it a long way only by maximizing Drummond's effectiveness of maximizing the players' surrounding him, similar to Howard and the Orlando Magic. Anything can happen in this league. But I don't think we can make the Finals next season. It'll take another season of growth to get there. Knowing how our Front Office has been working, anything is possible.

It's hard to see this core being a serious contender. We need one more top drawer player and Drummond to move up a tier.

When I compare our series with the cavs to gsw's , (other than that fact we were ultimately swept) this is what comes to mind through my eye test.
-we rebounded the ball a bit better than gsw. Other than dre, we had sj and mook hitting the glass alot whereas gsw's small lineups were allowing the cavs bigs to get extra opportunities.
-gsw's big 3 as well as the cavs big 3 each would take/receive a steady amount of shots per game whereas with our team, we never knew who would be receiving or making the majority of shots on a game to game basis. I think establishing a shot hierarchy is crucial for our team.
-Rj wasn't nearly as aggressive as he should've been going up against kyrie. Even though curry was off this series, he was still being aggressive whereas i felt rj decided to kind of just take a back seat as opposed to how aggressive he was during the season.
-our offense is really atrocious. Looking at how the finals teams were moving the ball really put into perspective how lackadaisical we are. The 2 biggest reasons for this in my opinion are rj and dre. Rj overdribbles in one spot alot and dre reacts very slow when he has the ball in the high post/3pt area. (If we had a say, pau gasol, that would allow dre to just stay on the block while pau operates the high post.)
But i do believe we can improve in all these areas. In the meantime, DRAFT THON MAKER! And pay a backup pg rather than draft a pg and pay a pf. None of the good pfs gonna want to come to Detroit. Why not get a a guy who can very well end up being a force in the league on both sides of the ball. Porzingus is a 7'3 pf, maker is a 7'1 pf.
Considering we just made the playoffs barely and want to make it again, i think we should get a point guard with a nba track record who is just a clear cut upgrade from Steve "the bum" blake.
