Sounds like Delly. Maybe use Baynes and Bairstow to lure Delly here. And then use Delly to keep Baynes here past this next season.

I kind of want to go after a guy like Evan Turner or Dion Waiters to be our "backup PG", ie a bigger guy who has a decent handle, but isn't a traditional PG, can easily slide in next to Reggie and won't be abused when switching on the P&R defensively. I think one of those guy paired with SJ would be enough playmaking to handle the ~15 minutes or so Reggie is out of the game.

That's where we need to spend most of our funds. Delly is my choice at the moment cause he plays defense and is efficient

Windhorst mentioned on the Lowe post that we've been sniffing around Delly pretty hard. I think the Cavs buying the pick to get Felder and Mo Williams opting in signals they know Delly is getting an offer they aren't going to match. Delly at ~$10 mil or more scares the heck out of me, I don't think he's a guy you put the ball in his hand, instead more of a ball mover on the second pass (though he does throw a nice alley oop).

Austin Rivers is a terrible basketball player. Los Angeles isn't letting Clarkson go since he's subject to the Arenas provision and the first two years of his new contract can't be over something like $5.6 and $5.9 million. The other names make sense on some level.

I definitely want somebody who can play defense, but that's not a good list for it. Dellavedova and...?

Before these playoffs, despite Lin's strong season, I still wanted Delladova

But after they are over and seeing how little Delly played and how little impact he had on the Cavs playoff run I really dont want anything to do with him

Id rather pay Lin 12-14M. SVG is good with PG and would bring out Linsanity 2.0/3.0 to Detroit

Bayless, Jennings, Smith and Chalmers intrigue me, Lin will just cost waaayyy too much.

I think Lin is going to be shooting for a starting job, especially after his playoffs.

I'm thinking there's going to be a Jennings reunion. I can't see anyone (outside of maybe the Nets) giving him a shot at a starting PG spot. He seemed to mesh well with Stan and Stan seemed to feel bad about trading him. There's no mess of a RFA offer. He's only a year older than Delly, though much more experienced.

Delly falling out of the rotation during the Finals was very concerning. He's not a guy you can put the ball in his hands and expect him to create and he's not a guy who can play 30+ MPG over a 20 game stretch should Reggie get hurt. I will be really disappointed if we are the sucker team who gives him a huge deal.

Rio Chalmers is coming of an Achilles injury - so a good portion of this upcoming season is lost already for him. What is important is the person brought in needs to understand his role - that of a back-up. It's not a competition for the starters gig, sure you can push Jackson in practice and the like, but it's his team and you can't be trying to usurp him or challenge his leadership.

I don't want Jennings back to be honest - he seems to want to live his life on TMZ.

Yeah, I'm not in support of Chalmers coming in and immediately being the backup PG coming off of an Achilles injury. He's not on the list I posted above from Smitty's resources since Memphis actually waived him during the season. Those are just guys becoming free agents this summer. I don't think there's any other significant player with that situation though, so that's the list to go off of.

We could also trade for said point guard - if a team is looking to make a big signing and needs more cap room (a la getting Mook last season) though this is unlikely as everybody has a lot of room given the big cap jump. Or we could trade Meeks for a similarly contracted point guard if a team needs a SG and has a PG to move. Meeks will be very motivated this season as he's in his walk year and needs to earn his next contract - which is kinda why I'd want to keep him just the same.

I'm really hoping delly isn't the guy. He is solid on d and can hit a 3, but he's not a great playmaker. He doesn't strike me as someone who can run an offence.
Having said all that, whoever we do get is going to be flawed in some way. They wouldn't be back ups if that weren't the case.
This is going to be a huge signing though who ever it may be.
