BAines for Ariza

Post#1 » by Southern Piston » Tue Jul 19, 2016 10:31 pm

I don't know about this myself, I think in the playoffs he could help more than BAines, and really build competition for top level effort from our 2/3 and still allow for trades in the future.

I think if Houston is dealing anyone its Brewer. Ariza is 31 and Brewer is 30. Ariza can shoot 3s, Brewer, not really. And they make about the same amount of money, for the same period of time. With the way payrolls are going, I would trade Aron Baynes for Corey Brewer, i'm not sure Houston would. Can't see them trading Ariza for him.

I'm only interested in trading Baynes by himself for a PG or SG or combo guard.

that would weaken our frontcourt and I don't think Boban is ready to be the first big man off the bench

We also shouldn't trade Baynes yet.

Houston wouldn't trade Ariza for Baynes. They can't afford to with Harden and Anderson definitely starting and possibly Gordon as well. Defense has to come from somewhere in the starting lineup outside. Besides, they have Capela and signed Nene with Motiejunas still a restricted free agent. The Rockets are fine at center.

JL gonna be the first big off the bench though.

If Houston was willing to part with an asset to move Brewer I'd consider him.

Dre 33, JL 15 (Boban)
Harris 28, JL 10, King 10
Mook 28, SJ 20
KCP 28, SJ 10
RJ 30, Ish 18

Brewer, Bullock & Hilliard would be fighting for 10-15 minutes a game so the asset that comes with Brewer would be the real reason to take him...

And it's insurance for next off-season when Bull & KCP can get PAID

I love how you're trying to make King Henry happen.
So fetch.

Trade him to Toronto for Bebe!

Would love to see a Drummond/Boban/Noguiera rotation at centre for us. That rotation has talent, skill and upside. I know Baynes is the better player atm but I still think Bebe has great defensive potential and he can run the floor well for a big.

Pistons already have Bullock, SJ and Hilliard. There is Zero need for Ariza. Baynes is needed for Front Court depth this entire season.

I'd rather hang on to baynes. We got plenty of SFs.

I think Ariza and Beverly are viewed as keys around Harden. Both guys can spot up for threes and will go all out defensively with minimum offensive involvement required.

I think it is hilarious when Fans see a good player and think, "I want to weaken depth at one position to add that player I like to a crowded position."

I doubt Houston is willing to trade with us anytime soon, period.

Bullock is going to need to be paid soon so unless he re-signs for an absolute steal of a deal, I'd rather try to maneuver for Ariza since his cap hit supposedly goes down each year. And he's a more proven commodity with being in the league and the playoffs for a while. Ariza on paper may fit better with the starters anyways.

Ariza and KCP are the exact same player. Ariza gets hot from deep a little more often, and is a couple inches taller.

Could do better if trading Baines, certainly in a big for small trade scenario.

I think Houston would consider because they lost Dwight. Detroit will probably need Baynes this season than Ariza this season. SVG has coached Ariza before and used him alot as a backup back then I do recall. I doubt this would happen. Wouldn't doubt it tho if Boban surprises in camp. I wouldn't as having big depth trumps wing depth. I really want to see if Bullock and Hilliard continue in their development. Plus, I doubt Ariza would be happy as a backup after being a starter for 3 consecutive seasons for the last 158 games. If moved, he is a starter. Detroit would have to add talent to make this happen. I still wouldn't do it as Ariza would not want to be a backup and they could get a better return.

Besides, if Baynes is moved, I reckon SVG and Bower hold out for a steal of a trade like the RJ deal. No rush and better to keep Baynes.
