Detroit Pistons - Impossible trading partners?

Just curious how everyone else feels about this. For the first time in many years (maybe ever), I'm not so exciting about creating magical trades that will turn around our team and make them better. I really like our roster all the way through our bench. No excessive contracts. No self centered head cases. No over the hill has-beens. It is sort of driving me nuts. I'm in Cali, so I might have to become a part-time Kings fan so I can get my trading fix in

I guess Baynes is a trade target because of his contract situation. We know we will lose him next summer for nothing. And we could get a better backup 2. But besides that, I'm very excited to see what this lineup can do.

Yup. Pretty much. I'm a regular lurker on the T&T board and I generally only post on Pistons-related deals. There's just not much to talk about right now. SVG wants to see how this group looks, so I seriously doubt anything happens for at least the first half of the season, maybe longer. I'm cool with that -- there are enough interesting things to look forward to this season already.

I'm not interested in making any big trades right now. I think our starting 5 is basically unguardable due to their versatility and our bench is going to be significantly better too. The only type of trade I would consider would be something like Harris, one of KCP/SJ/MM, and two first rounders for Blake Griffin. If we aren't getting back a perennial allstar then I'm not that interested in breaking up our awesome core.

Detroit is a bad trading partner for other teams because they don't really need anything. The Pistons have also set themselves up where the players they do have in the rotation are are fairly important to the overall picture. There are very few deals that make sense overall with them sending out multiple players while only getting one in return since most guys they have fill pretty specific roles/holes.

No crying needs, but still a need for another top tier player beside Dre. I could see a consolidation trade if one becomes available.

Sure, but it's really hard to expect or foresee a top tier player becoming available. And the vast majority of the proposed trades for Detroit on this board or the T&T board aren't actually bringing back a top tier player, just a pretty good one. I don't think someone like that justifies the Pistons giving up two of their better rotation players (like those trades include) because the upgrade overall wouldn't be significant.
Not including the one you proposed with Wall though. That's interesting. Would never happen, but I don't hate it for Detroit.

Griffin is an injury prone player and always looks gassed at the end of the season. He's a Top-10 and I really like his game, but I'm not sure if he's what team needs at that cost. PG13 got a lot more sense to us, but he's not leaving Indiana.

I wouldn't say impossible. I still think there's room to improve at a number of positions, if the perfect opportunity presented itself. I wouldn't be heartbroken to see Reggie or Tobias dealt for an upgrade.
I will say that we won't see many more deals where SVG fleeces the other team though. To find an upgrade at any position now, we're going to have to pay for it. Or it'd be a trade of similar talent but at different positions, i.e. Baynes for a more proven backup SG, or something along those lines.

I still want Beal. Besides that, this is the happiest i've been, going into pre-season, in several years.
Beal here puts us up there with the best of them.

Beal just got the Max dude. Ain't no way any team wants him in a trade.
Our squad is set for a while anyway. SVG has put this team together now we'll see what they can do

VanBower might not be targeting a marquee player, but he/they are opportunists that could unexpectedly snag up value. Ya never know.

The only player worth blowing up our team for is Anthony Davis, him next to Drummond would be unstoppable. That is the only player I would say "name your price".

Along with that Beal is a pretty overrated injury prone player.

Count me among those that wouldn't touch Beal with a 10 foot pole.
Injury prone player, not a true #1 option, not a great defender individually or as part of a unit, not a sniper from 3 etc
Not worth the MAX on any level to me.
A lot of people on Real GM over rate him IMO. According to them I just don't get it!
I don't know what "it" is but if Beal has "it" I don't want it

Reggie, Morris and a first for Lillard. Lillard here paired with KCP is a hell of a backcourt. And the pick n roll with Dre would be unstoppable. Obviously isn't a realistic trade, because there's no way the Blazers accept.

Even then, if they could trade Harris and Morris for a marquee player, they probably don't hesitate if it's a good fit.

The Pistons are in a position where there are no major roster holes anymore. The first time in like forever, talent, depth and fit should be all above average. If there is an upgrade available they already shown the trade route is far, far, far superior to draft and free agency. The trade roster is stocked if you will so thats great. But i would only break up this core for a real allstar difference maker and those guys are hard to get so for now its time to sit back and chill.

That "all-star difference maker" won't be available to us even if we wanted a trade. Usually teams who trade them players are rebuilding so they want to rid them selves of contracts while acquiring picks young talent and expirings. We don't have picks worth acquiring, young talent we have but they aren't marquee enough and if they are they're already locked into a big contract or about to be (Drummond, KCP) and to top it off out only two expirings aren't that big of expirings in baynes and bullock I don't see a major trade coming our way.

Wait until January...... teams will be looking to dump their stars for value..... Golden State will be about 50-5... AGAIN.... and All-Star players stuck on mediocre teams will be asking out, and teams be looking to shuffle the deck.....

I really like the position we're in. We have a good, young squad with no OUTRAGEOUS contracts. I stand pat until a true superstar starts pouting (it's the NBA, it happens often) and we can make our offer.
