Who could be an upgrade at point guard?

I know we haven't seen enough to judge ish on the pistons, but I have a feeling he is going to be far too passive. Who do you think would be a worthy upgrade to that position through trade? For me the only two options are Brandon knight and Ricky Rubio. Both are in point guard battles for minutes, and I think both will lose their starting spots for good this season.

Well since bringing in any long term money means that we cant resign KCP there is not much you can bring in.

Shelven Mack for Darrun Hilliard or Reggie Bullock?

The Heat could look to blow it up and tank, rebuilding around Whiteside & Winslow while giving Riley mounds of cap space. Dragic could be a very interesting piece to acquire, he's worked in smaller backcourts before in Phoenix and Reggie's wingspan could allow him to guard some 2s for a little bit of time, but Ish / Baynes / pick is likely all we could offer and Miami may not want Ish's deal.

Dragic would definitely be had if Riley decides to go on full tank. It's not like that roster is any good anymore, with their only relevant pieces in Bosh and Wade are gone.
I don't think Dragic and RJ would work well together. Him and Wade got off to a terrible start at the beginning and didn't really mesh all that well until Wade just jacked up bunch of off the dribble 3s in the playoffs.
But IF KCP is gone, then Dragic would be a weird but interesting option.

The Wolves might have to make a decision with Dunn and Lavine and Rubio all on the roster. The likely conclusion will be that Lavine just plays SG full time and the PG experiment is over, but just in case...
I would overpay to have Rubio on this roster. I know he's far from a great shooter by himself, but he's such a good playmaker and passer and general team player that I'm certain he would help cultivate his surrounding cast.

Michael Carter-Williams was on the block and a trade fell through.
Dante Exum from Utah is a possibility. They have five PGs on the roster.
Brandon Knight maybe, because they have Tyler Ulis and Barbosa that can play point.

Me too. I've always loved Rubio's game. Pass first point guards just don't exist in the NBA anymore and he is one of the few that exemplifies that role. This roster could work with that since everyone else on the floor has the ability to score if put in the right position.

Knight would be the ultimate Vinnie Johnson backcourt player who could backup both PG and SG. That would be epic. Doubt it happens though. SVG would love that type of player.

Unless they can include Ish in the deal (which they can't until Dec 15th), it's hard to see them trading for an upgrade at PG. Because then what happens when Reggie comes back? Who's the backup? That would be a lot invested in a 3rd PG.
They just signed him for 3 yr/18m and touted him as a starter all summer. I think they have to just go with him now. Or at worst start someone else and just keep him in the backup role he was signed for.

Talking about trading for starters when Reggie is only going to miss 10-15 games?

This is where I am too. If we pickup a FA ok, but trades doubtful. Hopefully we can weather the storm.

Bullock for MCW actually is do-able...so no need to ditch Baynes...
Which would leave us with a worse shooting team than what we have now!
RJ, KCP, MCW as a backcourt would be interesting though...

I would think SVG would keep bullock > Hilliard. Defensively brings more, is probably the better shooter and plays the system really well. I would do that trade but i'd be very cautious of our expectations. I think where the real value will be is defensively we'll be probably top 5 backcourt wise

Tyreke Evans is another option
Played PG (although not that well early in his career) but is an expiring contract and can slide to back up SG when Reggie comes back
Reggie / Ish
KCP / Tyreke - Bullock/Hilliard
We could trade them Baynes but they have a glut at C
Besides Tyreke we dont have the assets to go after any PG
Rather just consolidate KCP + Stanley for an upgrade at SG by going after Jimmy Butler if the Bulls play like crap to start the season

KCP and Ish for Dragic? I think him a Jackson could co-exist in the back court together, if not figure out who works best and trade the other in the off season.
I like the idea of getting Knight back, but I think the cost would be high.
Maybe Jameer Nelson from Denver?
As much as I hate to say it... The pacers might be willing to give up Stuckey for little or nothing. We all know what you get with him but he is better than Ish at this point and can play both guard spots. He is also used to coming off the bench so when RJ returns less drama (hopefully).
Best course might just be to wait until final cuts are made and hope a Veteran PG gets cut and sign him.
Candidates:
Will Bynum
Devin Harris
Jason Terry
Jordan Farmar
