So McCallum wins the third/current backup point guard spot. I wouldn't have been surprised either way, it was a close race. Although I'm not sure how much that says about Ray if he couldn't clearly beat out Lorenzo for that spot...

N'Diaye will likely be waived shortly as well. The 15-man rosters are due on Monday at 5 p.m. EST.

i'm honestly a little surprised seeing as how much of an advantage brown had, but i'm happy for the hometown kid. hopefully he can seize this opportunity and give us quality minutes at the backup until reggie's ready to go.

Had Reggie been healthy to start the season, I think Lorenzo would've gotten it. But with the reality, I felt Ray had the advantage. Ray has played a lot more games and the NBA level and has a significant amount of starts.

Bring on the rumors of all the random PGs that get cut.

I wonder if the Mamadou signing could be foreshadowing a Baynes trade. They could now move Boban into backup with Leuer as 3rd C and still have a 3rd 'true C' in Mamadou.

Mamadou is a project at best and if we're being honest and a little mean he's freakshow to sell tickets in GR. 7'6" and not drafted - was he even in anybodies camp?

He was with the Warriors summer league. Not sure about preseason.

Mamadou is nowhere near ready to even sniff any roster spot with us.

He really is another Hasheem except slower but a bit stronger. I really doubt he steps foot in the palace of any minutes this year.

I'd rather recall the corpse of Joel Anthony.

Yeah, Mamadou isn't going to play minutes now or the next few seasons for Detroit. The Pistons have Drummond, Marjanovic, Leuer, and Ellenson who all can and will see time there. I still like taking a flyer on him though if only for the novelty factor. The D-League isn't useful for much else yet.

Brown would still be property of the Drive - unless the Drive trade him or release him right? I think they should do him that solid to see if he could maybe find a better situation/path elsewhere.

He isn't going to playing minutes for Detroit, ever.

I'm not shedding any tears over the 15th spot regardless of who it is.

Not much out there in waiver/cuts either - RJ Hunter, Anthony Brown, Mitch McGary, Beno Urdih, Alonzo Gee

I'm mildly interested in Tyler Ennis. But I don't think he brings much more then Ray.

Sg who can't shoot or defend, not really. Plus I think hes getting claimed by either the Sixers, Lakers, or Nets (new Gm Marks will try to add talent any way possible. Anthony Bennett).

I think Ennis and Goodwin get claimed. McGary is probably not getting any NBA or NBADL gig this year. RJ Hunter has a small shot at getting claimed (Cheap-ish contract and young). Alonzo Gee just needs the right team to want cheap depth.
