Donatas Motiejunas

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Sat Dec 3, 2016 1:59 am

I'm actually glad to see him get the big offer sheet from the Nets. Don't care if it makes sense for them or not, but I felt bad for him when we pulled out of the trade (although I know it was a smart move for us). Hopefully this will work out for him.

Yes very glad this didn't happen. No Low Key more than likely. Possibly no Ish?

As of now, I'd rather have Leuer than Motie so I'm glad that trade didn't go through.

Nets are an interesting team.. They found a gem in Kilpatrick.. He's legit as hell. Glad they're getting a decent big.

No Leuer, no Boban and No Ellenson if we did complete the Motiejunas trade. Truth be told, I'd still do it it Motie was 100% healthy.

Weird time for an offer sheet but I'm guessing there's some medical clearance stuff in there.

Also gotta remember that the Nets are looking at anyone in an effort to NOT be a laughing stock!

BroLo / Hamilton
Booker / Montie
RHJ
Kilpat
Lin

That's not terrible.

My biggeat fear has always been them offering KCP the Max...& that fear grows with every passing day

Considering he insinuated he'd pursue legal action after we failed him on his physical I don't feel bad for him at all.

Montie would likely start with BRoLo or Booker would get staggered minutes to give Montie more. The potential for PnRs being run by Lin with both developing 3 pt shots with Montie and Brook would be deadly.

The Nets actually look a lot better than even the current Hawks.

Not only have the Nets been terrible, but Boston owns their pick. They are in a very tough spot. I'm pretty much on board with anything that decreases the potential value of that pick.

can't quite bother working out the math right now but i think motie's cap hit as a restricted free agent would have only been a couple million more than what ellenson's salary was so i don't think it would have impacted us too much. we probably wouldn't have been able to get boban but i think we still could have signed ish and leuer.

if my assumption is right the big difference is ellenson + boban over motie and i'm glad just to have ellenson over him. ellenson is a skilled big in the mold of motie, he just doesn't have potentially debilitating back problems.

i'm glad motie is getting a payday though and it makes sense for brooklyn since they have cap to burn and get a talented player if motie can stay healthy.

Though the Nets signed the Rockets' restricted free agent to a reported four-year, $37-million offer sheet Friday, the terms of the deal are extremely team-friendly, with plenty of protections baked in.

Because of the ruptured disk that cut his 2015-16 campaign in half and nixed a trade to the Detroit Pistons, the Rockets were reportedly unwilling to offer Motiejunas guaranteed money beyond the first year of any deal, and the Nets' offer reportedly doesn't even go that far. The contract will pay the 7-footer a guaranteed $5 million, but the team can void the remaining $3.5 million for the 2016-17 season if they waive him before Jan. 10, Wojnarowski reports.

Alot of options to cut a guy who claims he's 100% healthy with no back issues.

Sixers are more likely to do it. KCP is what they need, someone to organize their defense and give Simmons and Embiid space.

Leuer doesn't get enough love. He's been outstanding! From 3s, to rebounds, to put backs, to creating 2nd chances, to running the floor and finishing at the rim. He's been doing it all!

I love the Leuer, Harris, Morris, KCP, and Smith lineup. Very deadly! They can all shoot and create their own.

Leuer & Ellenson > Motie

We made the right decision.

The timing is such that he can't be traded this season. The whole 60 day period goes past the deadline. Maybe the Nets figured it would be more reason not to match. I don't know.

Where it gets interesting, is do the Nets cut Luis Scola (36) or Anthony Bennett (23) if they get Donatas? Both are doing about the same statistically, Luis has one year at $5 mil, Anthony has like 2 years at about $1 mil each.

The fact Bennett is still in the league is proof that "potential" has a long shelf life!

He's done nothing in 5(?) years to show he's NBA worthy but still keeps getting chance after chance

I still think Monte is an overrated player. Leuer is cheaper and much better while less of a head case. SVG dodged a bullet here.
