No one on our team deserves to be an all-star...

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Tue Dec 20, 2016 2:07 am

It was cool to see the Pistons come out and support Dre in trying to get votes last year to be an all-star, but he doesn't deserve it one bit this year.... no one on this team is close right now. Honestly its sending him the wrong message if he plays the way he has been and then coaches come out and put him in the game. We know the fans won't vote him in, but I'd be shocked if he gets the nod after seeing how poorly he's played for us this year. He's way less important to our team if he can't command the paint and be efficient on the offensive end.

Anyone believing at this rate that one of RJ or Dre is our stars because they're the highest paid are going through a rude awakening.

We have no true all-star on our roster. Dre has it since he's just full of potential...with even less to show for it and RJ has degenerative knees and doesn't play the "right" way.

I don't think that's going to be a problem now that there is no C spot.

Cavs will have 3 All-Star, Raps 2 teams seeded 3-8 look to get one each as well. I Thomas, Kemba Walker, Giannis, Melo, Paul George, Jimmy Butler. Then you have a few guys that have been balling out in Wall & Beal, and even though the Heat suck Whiteside is posting better stats.

Edit: I forgot about KP

Dre isn't even a top 10 center. No way he is an all-star.

I'm saying this as a Raptors fan, give me the 10 centers better than Dre you'd rather have.

Cousins - sure and prey Cousins doesn't take his baggage with him
Marc - yes, but how many years does he have?
D.Jordan - more potential
H.Whiteside - age wise Dre has more potential than Whiteside now
B.Lopez - no
R.Gobert - only1 of 2 guys i'd take over Dre hands down
P.Gasol - no, way too old by this stage
J.Valanciunas - no (even as a Raptors fan, btw Raptors fans are complaining about JV)
B.Biyombo - no
M.Turner - no
Embiid - the other guy i'd take over Dre
Capela - who?
Hordford - no
Howard - yes but i'd take Dre here, age
Jokic - a PF and it's his rookie year, let's calm down here
Bogut (healthy) - no age here Bogut is a very short term player for a team on the cusp of a championship
Okafor - seriously?

Capela: Not better
Jokic: Like Turner, he's a PF and not better yet
Bogut: No

I'm going to be on Record in saying I'd want Gobert over any Center if were talking the future and now, even passing Embiid. That defense man.

I'd give everyone on this roster for Gobert. He's looking like a PnR machine and has actual fearsome defense

But Embiid looks like the next big thing and I'd take Cousins as a consolation prize. It's beginning to be true that Dre and RJ as our so called stars won't be winning a chip anytime soon, they're too fixated on raw numbers and they're not 1st options at all.

In perspective Derozan was very raw with great athleticism when he was drafted, if Dre works hard he 'could' develop like DDR did as well.

Imagine a 6-11 foot Kobe.

If the Hungry Howie's pizza commercials were accurate, "basketball superstar Stanley Johnson" would deserve to be an all-star. Other than that, no one DESERVES to be an all-star: though I feel like Andre will get voted in by the coaches.

Andre is to rebounding what Derozan is to getting to the line, they are both elite at it. So far now it looks like Derozan is no longer a 1 trick pony (he wasn't last year) so Andre will have to step up in other ways too.

They're too busy being overly dramatic.

Drummond defends less than Harden. I want you to tell me what Drummond does better than those players besides getting rebounds for his stats.

First off, I can't take you seriously when you say that Drummond defends less than Harden. Does he have games where he's out of it defensively? Of course, but you'd be fooling yourself if you honestly believe that's the case. Secondly, I feel as if you're just overreacting to the Pistons' play these past few games and, as a result, believe everyone on the team is worse than D-League scrubs.

I was going to go into detail on how Drummond is better than the players I listed, but I don't really want to derail this thread anymore than it has been already. If anyone deserves to be an all-star on this team though, the only one would be Drummond.
