A few interesting insights, I won't give away too much.

He's ready to start working again

It was a good podcast. Woj approached a lot of the topics many fans point to in Dumars' tenure. Drafting Darko. Dumars spoke more to how poorly they scouted, and said they also drafted for need, as their front court was weak behind Ben Wallace. Joe didn't speak on the missed opportunity of Bosh, Wade or Anthony.
Joe said his biggest failure was trying to "rebuild on the fly", which many of us criticized him for. He said, if he could do it over, he would have completely stripped the team down after the Billups trade.
Ultimately, Joe came off as charismatic and a fun interview for Pistons fans. I highly recommend everyone give it a listen.
He did seem to make a jab at SVG and having a bloated front office staff.

Hope Stan is listening to this rebuild on the fly stuff. We're close to being in that position.

Doesn't "rebuild on the fly" imply that we were recently "flying"? I don't think that applies to this situation.

Its too bad Dumars never tore things down, would have been interesting to see what a full rebuild would've looked like.

Ownership never allowed it!
Mrs D was trying to sell the team so can't tank
Gores bought it and wanted a quick turnaround

I don't have any respect left for Joe Dumars the President of Basketball Operations. He wanted full control, which is why he hired questionable 'yes men' coaches. Power corrupts... absolute power corrupts absolutely.
All the excuses, poor decisions, coaching hires and his ballooning waistline probably from some delusional feeling of self-glorification. Well, pride cometh before a fall.
Above all else, the thing that irked me the most was watching no involvement time and time again at the Trade Deadline.
Van Gundy should have learned something from others' mistakes. He better learn from his own real quick, or he'll be heading out the same door as Dumars.

Dumars made big mistakes, but he built something insane in 2000s. I won't forget the good he did.

If you take a look at the big picture, Dumars might be the most important guy in the history of this team.
