Detroit, Chicago and Charlotte into the AllStar break
So the teams jockeying for position around us could be buyers or sellers going into AllStar weekend, where all the GMs get ready for their trade deadline deals. Looking at their schedules shows that we will be back in 9th and out of the playoffs. Chicago will be several games ahead of us, comfortably in 7th, with Charlotte just squeaking by us into 8th. I wonder if this will impact Chicago who really should blow things up.

Love the optimism! I think we have a better chance of winning tonight than in Toronto. If we win tonight, you may be right.

There is no possible way we win tonight

Re: Detroit, Chicago and Charlotte into the AllStar break
Milwaukee has been bad lately, got Middleton back and immediately loses Jabari. Predicting a W
Toronto was bad while Derozan was out, but he's back now, so we'll see.
Hornets have been awful since Zeller went down and now Sessions is out too, basically the only team they've beaten in their last 10 is the Nets. Not worried about them passing us.
Chicago who knows
edit: I kinda missed the point of the post lol. Don't really know what to make of Charlotte and Chicago though.

I doubt chicago blows it up, but they should. Half the rotation is on the wrong side of 30. Not a great position to be in unless you are close to contention.
The bucks obviously would love to move monroe and clear some more salary, but that isn't new. I'd bail on delly too, but I'm not sure they will . I think they are probably content to just let the other young guys develop.
CLT is a mystery to me. I have no idea what they are trying to do. They are paying 20 mil/yr to Batum. He's 28, but the rest of their moves aren't really "win now" situation. They have MKG, Zeller and Kaminsky and Kemba is still pretty young. It doesn't seem like MJ has a plan at all. They just trade for anyone with an NC connection and hope for the best.

All 3 of those stretches look like 2-2 to me. You have a very optimistic outlook on the Bulls going 4-0 with wins over TOR & BOS. And I could easily see either the Clips or possibly even Philly stealing one from CHA. I also like our chances against MIL. Barring injuries I doubt we see any drastic change to the standings.

Bulls do have those two at home, so I actually would be surprised if they split.
Still, considering the schedules, it is very possible we're #9 at the AllStar break.

Charlotte won't blow it up - they just traded for Plumlee on long term money.
Bulls are a weird situation with Butler and Wade - should be looking to win now as opposed to blowing it up
Bucks would be best served shutting down Middleton and seeing what pick they end up with cause without Jabari it could get ugly.
Agree with Cow - standings won't change much before the break

Looks like Zeller should be back for the Hornets tonight, it was rough without him (Nets sandwich
)

At first I saw all those Ls and thinking how bad Charlotte is, but look at the schedule - pretty tough. Of course they should have beat the Knicks, but most of that schedule is pretty tough.

I had the same initial thought and realization too. Home against the Kings probably should've been a W too, but yeah GS twice in that span is especially a tough draw

I'm thinking all-star break records will be:
Detroit : 27-30
Chicago : 28-29
Charlotte : 26-30
Detroit : 27-30
Chicago : 28-29
Charlotte : 26-30

9th wouldn't be terrible. Ok, a little terrible...but still within striking distance of 7th.

Chicago's likelihood of beating Boston is less than us beating MIL

Somehow the Heat are still on a 12 game win streak and are only 2 games back from the 8 seed. Wonder if they make any moves before the deadline?
And with a whopping 2 wins in a row, the red hot Detroit Pistons have the second longest win streak in the east (4th overall) lol

The Heat are playing insanely great. It does look like we're going to be looking over our shoulder at them for playoff seeding. Which sort of sucks because I was hoping we would trade for Dragic somehow.

Kinda shines light on how terrible the East is. Like it's just horrid basketball minus maybe the Cavs. I say the Cavs because they're on a different level in the playoffs.

None of the forecast wins and few of the forecast losses on this list can be made with real confidence. The results will probably differ quite a bit.
Mostly unrelated: I do recall, one time a poster absolutely nailed a month-ahead record for his favorite team. He was 100% right on the overall record while getting almost every individual game wrong.
