Let's face it: Drummond's value is very low

Post#1 » by JohnReese » Mon Feb 20, 2017 9:56 am

We all agree the equation "Cousins>Drummond" and the prize of Cousins has been Tyreke Evans (expiring), Buddy Hield, Galloway, a first round pick (protected) and a second round pick.

Some rumors said we offered to swap Drummond for Cousins and was refused.

So, from now on when you think about a trade use this context to be realistic.

It was earlier in the year. People are valuing top 10 picks in this draft too. Something we can't offer.

Amen! Our offer was made when the Kings had the "not trading Cousins" sign up

Not sure what changed other than the new CBA making him even more expensive to retain but the general opinion on Real GM is that the Kings got bent over the table, NO called Zed and brought the gimp out and even Bruce Willis couldn't save the day

Huge difference being Drummond is on a 5 yr deal.

Cousins could very well be a rental, obviously the return package will be hampered by that.

Yes that's exactly what I was thinking, Cousins didn't sign an extension, he could be a rental. But playing with Anthony Davis? That's the best backcourt in the league and it would be a pleasure to watch the Pelicans now for me. I'm excited to see how they play together, domination!! Cousins is my favorite current player in the NBA

There are too many bigs in this league, that lowers Drummonds value as well. Just looks how many centers are available right now. Kings went big for small, thats the way the league goes. The bigs in the league all have their flaws but Cousins is still the most talented big out there - he is a franchise player unlike Drummond, i am shocked for how little the Kings traded him. Worst franchise in the league by far.

Last week I thought there was a 25% chance of getting Boston to send us their Nets pick. Now there is zero chance that happens.

Center's value are low. Not to mention he has major flaws. But maybe Cousins and Davis dominating things in the league will break people out of the small ball trance. I REALLY want to see Pellies vs GS in the play-offs now.

Drummond on a max contract is a joke. The fact that he is the cornerstone of our franchise makes me sad.

Dre at the new super max contract would be a joke. Dre at the old max is a completely reasonable deal. Seriously, we probably are losing Baines this summer because he's going to make north of $10 million.

the sad thing is that there are games (not few) in which playing Baynes is more effective than playing Drummond...

Valuing your assets based on the Kings is a bit like valuing your house based on Foreclosures and your stuff based on what the local junkie sold his TV for.

The value of Cousins wasn't just based on his on court talent. He is a head case and distruption in the locker room. They won nothing with him. He's basically becoming the Carmelo of the West before this deal. Several GMs would only take him if was basically given away. Tells you all that you need to know. This year's draft is supposedly stacked like the draft of Melo, James, Paul, Wade, Bosh, etc.

This morning when I saw this trade had gone down I was certain this thread would have been created on our board. (Granted, that's a little like going out on a limb and saying the sun will set this evening.) ;-)

That Sacramento would make this trade says a lot about how they view Boogie. There's no denying he is tremendously talented, but you have to get his Haldol just right.

Melo always had a winning record when he played in the West.

I would never even trade Drummond for that package the Kings got lol. That is the worst run franchise ever, if that's the kind of value Dre has then screw its and I'll keep Drummond.

We have absolutely no idea how depressed Cousins value was based on his character and general toxic attitude, and it probably looks a lot worse from the inside than the outside.

The Kings are also pretty incompetent and have made trades that rip them off under the Vlade administration already. This trade isn't a benchmark. Relax.

Early in the year the Kings were probably turning down all offers thinking that they could make it work. They were still thinking that until a few days ago by the looks of it.

Kings had very little leverage in keeping Cuz so they got what they could. I doubt many teams were offering much for a player who may end up jumping ship this summer.

Cousins isn't a free agent this summer. The Pelicans now have him for one year at $18,063,850. He's just eligible to sign an extension this summer for 2018 and beyond.
