Is SVG realizing KCP is our best option??

KCP has struggled before tonight but he's also had the green light for majority of games, meaning SVG is running plays through him a lot more and keeping him out there despite him struggling. Even in the 3rd tonight KCP was aggressive as if the coaching staff told him, we need you to jack sh* up.
We were at our best when KCP and Harris lead our team in usage. I think SVG has had a large enough sample size to realize we were at our best as a team when we relied on those 2.

Maybe not realizing, but understanding that for KCP to make that jump to the next level, he needs KCP to take many shots so that he can learn to be more clutch and consistent. I just hope the extra effort doesn't take the energy away from his defense.

it will and it has, but its a matter of him becoming more efficient offensively and finding that balance. You'll notice he kind of has his spots and "got to moves"

I think even earlier in the season Stan was drawing up out of bounce plays mostly for KCP.

Hope so, now that the deadline has passed he needs to move Reggie to the bench so KCP can blossom

Ever notice how SVG never really seems to yell at KCP, along with giving him the green light even when he's cold? Funny how that works out when you play defense, give 100% effort, and listen to what coach tells you.

When you have to coach people like Reggie or Drummond or even Morris (who sometimes go crazy) you value players like KCP. He is absolutely the best soldier Stan has. Also it looks like there is bond between them, Stan was on his wedding, I remember Van Gundy saying that KCP has never asked him more shoots or that he doesn't care about KCP missing shoots.
I have the feeling sometimes that Stan thinks he is still not ready to run the show and he wants to protect him of failing.

Don't forget about my boy Tobias. He's coming off the bench without a single complaint and SVG rewards him nightly to finish out games and gives him greenlight to do Tobias-things
Both Tobias and KCP have been the brightest of them all in a dark season

Of course SVG realises it - that's why we were shopping RJ!
Nothing came from that cause we didn't get a young piece in return but I imagine RJ scenarios will be revisited after the season

It appears the players who give the best effort regardless of mistakes get yelled at less.

Yeah I'm gonna say there was almost no chance Stan was trading KCP yesterday

Well, best is kinda subjective. He's certainly playing the best of the current roster most nights, but I don't think he's a championship caliber #1 option. I love the progress he's made on the offensive end, but I sure hope we aren't building a team with him as the offensive focal point.

the question is: can you build a team around KCP and Harris?
obviously is better than building around two idiots like RJ and Drummond.

I think svg and co. Are realizing that they need to build around kcp and Dre not Reggie and dre.

KCP is still wildly inconsistent though.
Its easy to forget but for every game like last night there's at least one where he's an absolute brick layer. Hoping he gets more consistent soon.

Of course Stan knows KCP is the best guy on the team. But he is smart to keep working on Drummond - we need him to be an offensive threat, at least enough to open up shots on the perimeter for everyone else. This 2nd half of the season is going to be very interesting. Can't bury RJ on the bench if you want to trade him - I expect a lot more games like last night though where RJ is on the bench in the 4th.

Very good points all around...its why I've been quiet about Drummond offensively...you can't treat him like Ben Wallace, he needs touches, efficiency be damned...especially if we want him to continue developing. I'm a firm believer that at some point he'll be able to add a face up game to compliment his hooks. Not to mention when he's involved offensively he tends to show more energy on the defensive end as well.
On Reggie, I really don't know what the right answer is tbh. If you want to win Ish is obviously the better option, but then it kills Reggie's value as a trade asset if he doesn't play. One of those damned if you do damned if you don't situations.

We everybody are amazed with Ish performances but we need to realize that he cannot the starting PG, he brings the chaos when checks in and chaos is good for parts of the game but it can't be the plan.
Also, Morris looks like more a sixth man than any other thing. He is our microwave, if he gets hot we love it but when he start shooting reckless is very dangerous for the team.
I would build the roster like this:
PG: Trade-Ish-Udrih
SG: KCP-Draft/FA/Trade-Gbinije
SF: Johnson-Morris-FA (vet)
PF: Harris-Leuer-Ellenson
C: Trade-FA/Draft-Marjanovic
-McLemore fits the SG we need. Someone hungry.
-Draft Patton or Allen for the backup center
-I want a versatile PG who plays defense, can shoot and share the ball and a freaking center who defense a hit FT (easy!!!).

Need to figure out a center if we are moving Drummond...

I would kill for someone like Steven Adams. He is a real bad boy.
Biyombo would be risky, Brook Lopez more offense than defense and I don't know more options.
