OK all you Dr's, therapists, and brainiacs....
As far as I remember RJ has tendinitis. Which, as far as my little pea brain knows, is inflammation of the tendon?
Now, I've heard people on here say he should get surgery. Similar to what Wall did. But Wall didnt have tendinitis.
Reading a little about it online makes it sound like the pain of tendinitis can actually be worse than when u have a tear in the tendon. And that rest is the main thing you can do to fix it.
So....whats the deal? Surgery? Rest? Keep playing and looking like a 40yr old man?

Of course we all know nothing about the basis for the inflammation, but if it's bone spurs or other calcifications surgical cleanup can help. I'm sure RJ is under the care of very good doctors. It's clear to everyone his mobility is impaired.

All I know if that basketball is hard on the knees, and if you have a recurring knee problem, that is going to be a major issue with that knee's longevity.

Claimed the careers of Amare Stoudemire and Danny Granger too. It could happen with RJ, and a lot sooner than we think.

Certainly has all of the symptoms of the above this year, regressing after what seemed to be a normal season in the previous.

That's how it claimed Danny Granger after an all star season. he missed a nice chunk of games the next season. Then, it just became worse and worse until he was out of the league.

Yeeeeep. Same with Amare, after he signed with the Knicks and had a MVP-caliber season, he regressed exponentially after his knees started giving him trouble.

It's actually quite disturbing how similarly these guys' knees give out year over year when measured up.

It's just another reason why RJ should have been dealt for whatever we could get...

Or you bring him off the bench and lessen his minutes to at least get some quality out of him

Bottom line: He needs to realize that he doesn't have the necessary burst to play like he once did. Swallow your pride and adapt your game to play within your means or you'll end up hurting your team and searching for minimum contracts after this one is done.

Even if he is able to get his burst back and return to a near-All-Star level, that's putting up near-All-Star numbers while the other guys on the team are standing idle. That's a low-ceiling way to play unless the guy with the ball is as good as prime Iverson.

At the time of the article it was five weeks. If he is still experiencing that, then it's at about 5 months now. I've never recovered from this type of procedure. Should it take that long to get his legs beneath him?

He obviously chose the wrong treatment. I remember getting the vibe from Stan that he wasn't thrilled with him choosing the unproven platelet therapy.
Amare had major structural damage to his knees. Major surgery on torn acl mcl. Reggie has freakin tendinitis. He's never torn anything.
Granger I'm not too sure about though. Maybe his was similar to Reggie's.

Is it possible his knees just can't handle the stress?

Didn't rip anything...yet here we are and he's hobbling even though he missed the start of the season?

Is it possible that not all knees are created equal and his have reached the point of no return?

So if he is still having knee issues, why is the coaching staff/trainers/doctors letting him play? Shut him down for the season. It's not helping the team win games.

It's unfortunate how one body part has become such a primary story in our team's season. It's also had an interesting domino effect. Would a healthy Reggie's style of play have been put on trial as much as it is now? You never heard grumbling last year when we had our first winning year in forever. Most of our PGs in recent years (Reggie, Jennings, Augustin) have been scorers more than distributors. A taste of Ish seemed to sway both fans and teammates. Also Reggie's lackluster return has done the same. I think without the injury, you'd see a team mildly improved from last year but with less of a glimmer of what KCP can do at his best and less of a breakout from Tobias Harris.

If svg can't move him, then at least move him to the bench. Lessen his minutes and tell him to go as hard as he can for that time. That's the only way he can be effective.

Sadly, the Penny comparison could be the closest for RJ. Hoping for the best that Reggie's is treatable.

Granger had a "minor" surgery on the knee in college after tearing the lateral meniscus.

We got Reggie back 2 months ago. That's 8 weeks. Hopefully he decides to explore surgery this off season, but I don't think we can say his career is over.
