creators off the bounce - need Tobias & KCP to improve that part of their games and then use it

improved 3 point shooting - gotta space the floor better

improved mentality - gotta come correct to start every game and focus on not digging a hole

there's no question that the pistons lack 3 point shooting. while pretty much everyone from 2-4 can hit threes (plus reggie at PG), KCP is the closest thing we have to a good 3 point shooter. i'd call most of the others average, but even that might be a little generous.

when constructing the roster, i think SVG realized the chances of us getting a stud offensive player was very unlikely. players like that can get their team so many open looks and you can put the ball in their hands in so many situations that you can afford to have guys that can't create any offense but they can shoot the heck out of the ball. cleveland is the perfect example of this, as all their offense is run through their big 3, in games they don't play the team has next to no chance of scoring well. houston is another great example since harden's pick and rolls result is something stupid like half their offense.

so instead SVG/bower got a lineup of "misfits", so to speak, because they were cheap and didn't fit the teams they came from. they could all create a little bit but not a lot and they could all shoot - but not a lot. while it would obviously be better if they lucked into a stud offensive player, i like that they've embraced the balanced approach. all the starters averaging ~15 ppg, it's hard for a defense to key in on any one thing but if they do we have the ability to take advantage somewhere else. we'll likely never have an elite offense with this style but could have one good enough to complement our defense (which would have to carry the team).

obviously the team would like better shooters, but good shooters that can't do much else offensively (think: bullock) don't add too much since we need all five guys to create offense. and good shooters that can create offense are highly coveted and not easy to acquire. so while i'm sure they're looking to upgrade our shooting, i'm pretty sure they will need anyone we get to be able to create some offense as well.

Create advantages and 3 pointer % comes.

Look at Bogdanovic: average shooter in BKN, is killing it in WAS.

It's a shame Meeks didn't work out, he was a shooter you could plug into a lot of our lineups. Still, we could've signed someone with the Boban money. Definitely need to do something about it this off season.

Nah, there's certain elements of this one I'd prefer to keep:

Dre
Jon Boy, Mook, King
SJ, Harris
KCP
Ish

New PG, new back up wing, back up C...

That's 11 players with only 3 being new.

Veterans with a business/old school mentality as 12 through 14 would help more than Hilliard & Benji

Our shooters are fine. When we move without the ball, the spacing looks so much better and we get quality looks. When everyone just stands around and watches, we might get "open" looks, but they really aren't good shots within the flow of an offense. It's basically a kickout with a defender running at the shooter. That's an OK shot, but it's not a great shot.

What we needed is to move the ball and take good shots, regardless of where they are on the floor.

Yeah, get more 3's to cover up the crappy team defense.

we need a another rim protector more than we need more 3's, thats the best way to cover up crappy defense, three pointers dont always fall.
