Best plan for this team this summer

Trade Reggie for whatever, I don't care if we get something valuable, just get rid of his contract and maybe get a late first or a couple 2nd rounds.
Trade Dre for a Top-10 pick of this draft, and maybe a young prospect to be developed if Dre really has that value to get us that package.
Re-sign KCP
Re-sign Baynes
Draft a PG
Trade Boban
Give more minutes to Leuer as C
Put Ellenson in the rotation
Ish/Draft/FA
KCP/FA/2nd round
Stanley/Harris/FA
Morris/Leuer/Harris
Baynes/Leuer/Ellenson
Play those guys. They play passionate basketball and give all their effort on the court. That team would be bad enough to get a top pick next draft if nobody take a step forward.
And if KCP, Stanley, Harris, Ellenson or the drafted PG turn into a star, we finally have a piece to build around.

hard to find such a fool giving you a pick and taking back Drummond's max contract.

I think at least 2/3rd of the teams in the NBA would do that with a smile.

Honestly?
Hire a sports psychologist to spend time with RJ & Dre

I really don't understand the people who think "all we need to do is dump dre and reggie and we'll be great".
I completely understand people who think dre and RJ aren't good enough to build a team around, but realistically, they are the closest we have to that level of player right now. Our team talent level is deep lottery without them.

SERIOUSLY.
Who are we building around at that point? Marcus Morris LOL? KCP is incredibly inconsistent on the offensive end, Stanley has a long way to go. Neither guy is someone you build your team around.
If by great they mean we'll be mediocre, then sure.

That's what I'm talking about. That team is to get a top draft pick next years unless one of them turn into a legit star. It's that easy, we got a lot of good but not great players, but they're also young guys.
If KCP, Stanley, Harris or Ellenson reach a star level, we'll be competitive and build around them. If that doesn't happen, we got a solid core of role players who play hard to build a culture around the young prospects we get from those high picks.
It's that easy guys. Reggie and Dre got a very limited ceiling while they're keeping apart us to be bad and they're keeping apart us to be good too.

So you're plan is to trade Dre for a top 10 pick, trade RJ for whatever and then TANK!
How bad is the top 10 rookie with KCP, Harris etc is gonna be?
Where would you pick in the 2018 Draft and who would you be looking to draft?

deep lottery team is better than perennial first round exiters.

No it's not. We've been a lottery team. It sucks. It takes years and years to build up from that to "perennial playoff team". We need to be looking at how to go from "making the playoffs" to "competing for a title", not back to "well, lets hope our draft pick is good".

we are not a playoff team. we are the one who are gonna be trashed in the 1st round.

What on earth are you talking about? If you make the playoffs, you are a playoff team. That's the definition.

George Hill & Steven Adams and Stanley in the lineup.

Going to be hard to make any major changes coming off a deep playoff run to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Major roster turnover with rookies will never get you a high playoff seed.

I didn't get the impression that the original post says we dump RJ & Dre for whoever and suddenly -> contenders!
I think what SVG is trying to iterate is the fact that we should actually try to tank and gain superstars that way. Tobias-Ish-SJ-KCP play arguably more watchable basketball and if the results don't show well, then full tank mode.
If the Lakers can do it without scrutiny for the last 2 years, so can we. When's the last time we netted a top 3 pick (Grant Hill?)? Hell even the top 5 pick in a really solid draft? Getting middle tier picks gets us middle tier results, which is evident this season, no? Yes, I also recognize there are a myriad of reasons why we ended up where we're currently at.
Not saying that tanking deliberately for a top 3-5 pick is the surefire way to go, but at least for our franchise, it hasn't been attempted in a long while. We've just been objectively terrible with none of the hope that our pick was actually in the golden range of 1-6. It's always been 7, 8, and 9. It'd certainly be a "fresh" option on the table considering we've been firmly in the no man's land of not being good enough for 8th seed (in the past) but good enough for 8th pick for far too long. Something has to give.

Gores will not tank and that's the most overlooked factor in Philly's "rise": ownership must sign off on it.
Since that's not gonna happen here we have to stop complaining about it or proposing it as an option - it is not an option!
SVG came here partly because of Dre - he's not getting traded for a draft pick!
RJ is the one that will likely go with very few teams options for us:
Dallas - team RJ with Noel & Barnes for the future, maybe make a playoff push for Dirk next season?
LAC - if CP3 leaves or they flame out in the playoffs getting younger might be what they do.
LAL - RJ would be the first step towards them acquiring PG13
SAC - how many kids are too many?
UTA - will they balk at paying Hill $20 mil?
That's about it as far as I can imagine...and I doubt we'd get a great deal in exchange for RJ
But maybe we don't need to change players - just change the mentality of some?
