Lots of negative posts lately it seems about tanking. I still have faith and want me some playoffs! I also have faith there's more of us out here than the few who are posting the tank talk.

I change my mind on this every other game or sometimes every other quarter in games. At this point I don't even care what happens, id like us to get a lottery pick but I know this team is going to win enough just to sneak in and get killed by either the cavs or celtics.

Last time I checked this squad as currently constructed was 7 wins off being the 4th seed and having HCA in the first round.

I said the difference between a circle jerk of epic proportions and misery would be about 3 wins...

If THAT is the difference then we stay the course IMO, thinking that internal development, continuity and the will to be better is what we need more of.

But I'm a patient fan. I don't live and die every game, quarter or play. I don't have the time or emotional investment in the team like I used to so I can handle either winning enough or losing enough.

From that POV I believe Gores and SVG are all about being a perennial playoff team and IF something falls in your lap (Sheed trade) then you do it but otherwise be happy with where you are and what you're doing, as long as you actually make the playoffs of course

Screw it from now on I'm just going to cheer for a win and if we lose oh well, its not like we have ever gotten any luck in the lottery anyway with all those years of us being terrible and not once did we get a top 3 pick while the cavs got the number 1 pick like 3 times in 5 years..

Hoping we can string together a few games against poor teams and other middling teams means nothing. This team is poorly constructed with a Pick and roll WITHOUT shooters, which makes no damn sense. And the pick and roll are our two worst players, or have the worst floor of playing like hot garbage as anyone on the team.

The team needs talent, a lot more of it. It also needs to shed some deadwood in Reggie.

What would help us is not winning with a garbage team but losing, getting a decent pick, trading Reggie and starting over next year with a training camp based on ball movement and shooting.

So we need shooters and Someone like Rubio at the point.

I'd like to see us get to the playoffs and see if a team could beat us 4 games straight. I think if Dre can take on that challenge, at least be a fun series. Good news is that if we get to the playoffs, it'll be because we are scratching and crawlng to get in, which is good going in because thats essentially playoff basketball.

Playoffs. The only way I'd change that is if I knew we would win the lottery (or a top 3). But a high lottery pick or a pick that we would get by making the playoffs isn't that big of a difference. But I think Playoff Experience is a big thing and we need more of it. So let's get inito the playoffs and make some noise. We can fiddle with our roster in the offseason.

Who cares. Drummond and Jackson are two tickets for the perennial irrelevance.

Define irrelevance

At the end of the season only ONE team hoists the championship trophy - that doesn't mean that 29 other teams failed or 10 teams are irrelevant.

Every franchise has its own goals for the season. I believe our goal to be "make the playoffs". Assuming we actually can do that 2 years in a row is a good thing.

3 years is significant change!

4? We'll all bow down before SVG and wanna shake his hand!

I'm a big believer that younger people on here are more inclined to live and die with the team and always want for something else.

Lotto team? They want playoffs

Playoff team? They want a title NOW or to tank in an attempt to win a title.

Name ONE team that tanked and win a championship with the rookie they drafted as THE key piece...

Cleveland? Doesn't count when the real MVP only returned home cause he could see the writing on the wall in Miami

GSW? They didn't tank - they were just terrible and it took a complete overhaul of the entire franchise - from ownership down!

Miami? Didn't tank - they signed everyone

Dallas? Didn't tank

Spurs? Got Tim Duncan because everyone was injured! Didn't tank

How far back do you wanna go?

Just looked at everybody's remaining schedule, it looks like we'll be fighting with Milwaukee for the 6th seed in my opinion so I'm definitely on the playoff boat. If we were just fighting for the 8th seed I would be down to tank though for sure.

I want to watch a respectable team. We aren't. We play crappy basketball, we are committed to two idiots, a stupid rapper and a fake alpha male point guard.

IMO IF you're a tanking team then you gotta commit to it early

Doing it now just ensures the usual pick in the 7-14 range.

Apparently this Draft is a good one but still - if you tank you wanna do what Hinkie did and position yourself for multiple franchise players over a 3 year period.

3 top 5 picks should then produce the core of your team for a decade...

In order for us to do that we'd need to dump basically everyone Van Bower acquired in the first place!

Good point. Getting stomped by the Cavs last summer really propelled this team forward this year. You can see all the improvement the team made at nothing. Doing it again this summer should yield similar improvements.

As frustrating as this season has been, it's too late to tank. We're out of the running for any "can't miss" prospects.

There isn't really a difference between picking 12th or 20th so may as well shoot for the playoffs.

Playoffs for me. We're currently in the playoffs, and the remaining schedule is relatively favorable. Why tank now? I think if you're CHA or NYK you might as well tank the rest of the way, but I don't believe in blowing the rest of the season when you're in the playoff bubble. Just doesn't make sense to me.

At best, we get the 12th seed (barring we don't strike gold and move up). Personally, I think another playoff series will help this team in the long run. It makes sense to me to tank towards the end of the season if you're a few losses removed from the 9th-5th pick, but we're just not in that position.

I also don't subscribe to the whole "if they don't make the playoffs, it increases the chances of this team making a big move in the offseason" talk. I think SVG is a realist. I believe he's willing to make big changes if needed, regardless of how the rest of the season pans out.

I just can't wait until SVG realizes this is KCP and SJs team. Those guys are the heart of the team and they bring the energy. I like Tobias and Morris but one of them needs to come off the bench.

Playoffs for sure though
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

If is the key word here. If SVG is willing to blow this team up, I don't think making or not making the playoffs will have much bearing on that decision. It ultimately depends on his vision for this team moving forward, and what opportunities pop up in the offseason. I think he's smart enough to know that 40 wins and the 9th seed,or 42 wins and the 7th seed won't be the threshold for deciding the offseason direction.
