Game 80: Pistons (36-43) @ Grizzlies (43-37) - 6 PM EST

ish/beno are going to continue their rotation with smith getting 30-32 MPG
SJ is going to continue to see ~30 MPG
henry and boban are going to see 20-25 MPG
the rest of the rotation is up in the air, but seeing the young try-hards play most of the game should be entertainment enough.
for those fixated on draft positioning, charlotte lost today so we would need a loss to keep pace with them for the 11th pick.
the grizzlies are pretty much locked in to the 7th seed in the west so i'm not sure they have much incentive to go all out tomorrow.
go pistons!

The epic battle of Boban vs Gasol.

For how poorly SJ has played for most of the season, there was a sudden fire that lit in him during the last game. You could see he wasn't thinking about the possibility of being benched or having to worry about what his coach, teammates, fans or whoever else thought. He thought about playing basketball and competing. Once that happened, his stroke looked smooth, and he had no hesitation in his decision making.
His head is the main thing getting in his way. If he can get back to that mindset of just loving competing, there is no reason he can't be every bit as good as Bruce Bowen on D, and a decent enough offensive player. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for 18/7/5 tonight.

I still believe in the kid. Just have to let him play loose with no chains.

I'm actually excited about these last couple games cause we get to see guys like Ellenson and Boban out there.

SJ is a starting 3 on this team. The longer it takes SVG to figure that out the more I can't stand SVG.

smith, bullock, harris, leuer and drummond are starting. KCP and morris likely won't play so the bench is probably going to be beno, hilliard, SJ, ellenson and boban. i'm assuming gbinijie is still ill.

Teams are drawn to Drummond inside because they're afraid he will get the rebound. Teams are drawn to Marjanovic inside because he's an actual scoring threat AND he can rebound. I wonder which one is more effective...
And no, I'm not clamoring for Boban to start next season. He's a good offensive center off the bench, or at the most in a tandem with a more mobile, defensive oriented center. This is more about Andre's general uninspired play on the court and net negative effect on the team. Man, I really don't like the direction of Detroit if Drummond is the focal point going forward. He's just not good enough and doesn't appear to be developing the (or any) skills to say otherwise. Defensively he's a disaster most of the time and offensively... bleh. A garbage man who sets decent picks but one you don't trust passing to on a roll to the basket because he either gets fouled and can't make free throws or doesn't have good enough touch to finish around the rim without dunking.
Somebody convince me otherwise. Please.

Why the **** are we playing the starters significant minutes when we've been eliminated? What do we possibly have to prove by winning this game? I've been open to firing SVG but this is the straw the broke the camels back for me if we win this. We're not even playing Ellenson and Johnson for big minutes when they should've been starting. Can't wait for that panicking fat **** to leave our organisation, we will be stuck in basketball purgatory with captain panic at the helm. If you're going to employ a spursian culture then get the personnel before trying to "play the right way". What has Leurer done to deserve these minutes over Henry or Johnson? If we drop to 12th in the draft standings I'm honestly done, this isn't an overreaction but a confirmation that our "leader" is stubborn to a fault and doesn't understand what needs to be done in the modern NBA.

Not watching, but looked at the box score and saw Boban with 10 pts in 12 min. Did SVG botch the **** out of this or what? I still maintain that if RJ was shut down months ago and Boban got 20 min from AD and Baynes, this team would easily be in the playoffs right now.

Just saying, whenever we are in the lotto, the team who is one place better than us always seems to get a lotto pick (Wizards, Cavs in previous years). So maybe we trying to jinx those odds.

Henry's shot looks really good. What a shame we're about to win another game...
