The Positive Pistons Thread

Post#1 » by Pharaoh » Mon May 29, 2017 11:25 am

Doom and gloom reign supreme on this forum...I understand why but that doesn't mean we can't have ONE thread devoted to good stuff, right?

Post all positive vibes, news, theories, vids, gifs etc here

does anybody else think that ellenson should eventually supplant tobias and not leuer? to me, they have very similar offensive skillsets, but i believe that hank has more potential at that end due to his size and ability to handle the ball. he definitely needs to get himself in much better shape if he's ever going to be a major rotation player, but the talent/ability is there.

just some food for thought, didn't really know where else to post this lol

Nah. Harris is pretty good offensively. I don't think Ellenson is going to be able to get to the rim like Tobias does either. He might have handles, but not good enough to confuse him with more of a true wing player. Henry is slow and unexplosive too.

Both on the court could make for some interesting offense. Pretty much giving up on defense at the forwards (or PF and C) though.

I will attend more games this year because the Pistons will be downtown. That's as positive as I can get.

I find it interesting that we won in 91 and 13 years later we win in 04. Now it's 13 years later and we're not close. I mean it's really hard to get to contention! Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky with a big trade this offseason

Not what I expected so:

Imagine if:

KCP returns to his Nov/Dec/Jan shooting form!

While Reggie returns to almost All Star form

While SJ takes a giant leap offensively (and a smaller one defensively)

And Dre gets off the plateau and brings it every night on both ends

C: Dre 33
C: Bobo 15 when we go big
C: Jon 15 when we go small

F: Jon 10
F: Tobias 28
F: King 10

F: SJ 24
F: Mook 24

G: KCP 33
G: #12 15

G: RJ 26
G: Ish 22

11 deep...

reggie jackson *should* be healthy next year. it's hard to have a good offense in the league without a good scoring guard and he's likely our best chance of having one of those next year.

The Pistons were 24-17 at home this season and 13-28 on the road, if we can start playing better on the road this team should be in the playoffs again.

There are some positives even though this season was extremely disappointing.

For one, they play in a new arena next season, and we get a decent draft pick in a deep draft. We also still have our first round picks for the upcoming seasons. Not all teams have that going for them.

I still believe we got a good coach and an owner that has shown more patience over time and a desire to get this team on the right track. The future looked bright a year ago, and I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that they can bounce back and right the ship. It's a fairly young team, and even if they can't improve, we got a front office that has shown a willingness to make bold moves.

It's not all bad, really. Let's hope the offseason goes well, whatever direction it may take.

Actually, I'm very encouraged after listening to SVG's interview with Valentine. I think at least he's aware of what Drummond's biggest problems are and that, they're at least being proactive in getting him right. I hope Reggie really is healthy, and the offense should be better as a result. I'm really thinking that SJ and KCP could become a monster defensive tandem. So yeah, I'm a little hopeful for the future.

During the 2015/16 season we had one of the youngest starting lineups in the league and managed a 44-38 record before losing a competitive playoff series (albeit a sweep) to the eventual champions.

Our 2016/17 season we regressed for a number of reasons, but chiefly a non-healthy Reggie Jackson appeared to be the biggest difference. If he's healthy again as SVG suggests then there's little reason why we can't pick up where we left off at the end of the 2015/16 season.

If that fails, have a firesale at the trade deadline, tank, and hopefully enjoy some draft excitement for the next 3-4 years.

Its a legit chance Reggie has a bounce back season and might even come back better like Demar Derozan and Mike Conley did.

Awesome. That's really encouraging that we play so well at the Pala....oh.

POSITIVE! A few years ago, we had a bunch of awful players who were awful fits on awful contracts. Now we mostly have middling players on decent players who are bad fits. That's a step in the right direction.
