I don't think LAC would try to retool as opposed to rebuild. I doubt they downgrade from Griffin to Love just to still not make the playoffs. I would think they would want a full rebuild. That's why I though a package of Kennard/Johnson/Ellenson/picks would be more enticing. They can tank and develop those 3, all of which are on rookie contracts and play different positions. Griffin is a pipe dream though but again, that is the TYPE of trade we should be looking for imo.

That package only nets us someone at $8million or so. Give or take a few million. Adding Leuer or Boban helps match up contracts but they're negative assets for sure so that doesn't help. Sigh. Who's available in and around $8million a year that would help? It would be better for us to keep SJ. Trade Bullock Moreland Ellenson Kennard our 2018 1st forrrrrrr

Wilson Chandler and Derrick Favors are expiring $12 million contracts. Well Chandler has an option for next year. And Tyreke Evans is having a great year so far. Is he too small for SF though?

I'm all for Tyreke Evans but he's playing great on a cheap contract. Not sure what Memphis would want for him.

As far as Favors and Chandler, I want no part of them. Favors has no range and Chandler is wildly inconsistent.

How?

Was great as a rookie and has been often injured and/or below par ever since.

He is not a "Pistons mold type guy".

So 3 firsts for 1?

Granted I haven't seen a single Phoenix game this season but is Jackson really worth that?

Is he going to help us get EC Semis or EC Final appearances?

I would rather go after a proven player, not another prospect. We are trying to win now and for the next handful of years so bringing on a project as a core piece doesn't fit imo. Also, I doubt PHX gives up on Jackson this early.

We need a small forward that isn't useless on offense.

I haven't seen Jackson play either. From just some tertiary stats, he's averaging 9 points on 7.5 PER. Bad shooting on 20 minutes a game. While you can certainly contribute some of that to how awful his team is, he still isn't someone I'd quickly pull the trigger on with a deal like that. I'd probably do it without the pick included though. But, I'm not high on Johnson or Ellenson.

As terrible as Stanley has been at times, Jackson wouldn't improve the situation right now, and Van Gundy is definitely coaching and GMing for today.

The Pistons are a difficult trading partner right now. One could make the argument that those three could go for an established veteran/upgrade, but one of them is typically $15 million. Those three above total about six. So then you have to attach a crap contract or two to get the dollars up, and then your trade partner has to dump a player or two to make the deal work. It's not worth it to most...... slightly better chance in two months when some teams are blowing it up, but not now.

I see josh Jackson as the same player as sj basically just way more athletic (hops) I believe.

If I'm not mistaken he also has more length and a marginally better shot in addition to his hops.

Considering Jacksons upside is way higher, Stanley will be off his rookie contract soon and the fact Ellenson looks like he'll be a backup at best I'm all for it. Plus with the talent and coaching the Pistons have I don't see them getting any top 5 talent for a while.

Phoenix would be foolish to trade him after a quarter of a season unless he's show a character flaw that will prevent him from succeeding.

Yeah I think he’s like 6 9 maybe. Thinking they shoot about the same. He for sure has more upside if his shot starts falling, if sj shot starts falling that’s a nice player too. I wouldn’t mind it, but 3 first for one and if he never develops a shot that’s not a good trade.
