Draft day dream scenario.

In the last few years we have had a few players drop to us in the draft. Some that we took and some that we did not.
2010- Greg Monroe was not suppose to be there.
2011- B Knight was a bit of a surprised.
2012-A Drummond fell to us.
2015- Justice Winslow was not taken by us but everyone on the board was screaming for him.

Guy I am hoping falls is PG D Smith NC.

draft dream:

Magic calls to trade #2 and Jordan Clarkson for Drummond and Reggie Jackson
We get Lonzo Ball and draft Zach Collins or OG Anunoby at #12

Alternate dream;
We make a trade for an extra pick and somehow end up with a guard and a forward

guard list: Ntilitkina, Mitchell
forward list: Zach Collins, OG Anunoby

Smith is on the rise not the decline so good luck there.

I was bummed when Monroe and Knight fell in the draft (I knew Joe D wouldn't be able to resist picking them) so here is hoping a player I actually like falls this time. :P

Drummond and 12 for Biyombo and 6

Then draft the inevitable top 10 bust we're so good at doing.

2016- Ellenson fell to us. Wasn't dreamt to be there.

I'd say landing anyone projected to go in the top 10 at pick 12 would make me pretty happy.

Absent that, someone in the late teens / early 20s falling in love with a guy at 12, giving us a pick next year to move down and us still getting a guy like Kennard / TJ Leaf / Allen.

Realistically, as long as we don't take a major reach at 12 or trade the pick for some 28 year old backup SG I'll be fine with most whatever.

I will take any of the perceived top 11 group falling to 12. That is my dream scenario. Kennard or Mitchell wouldn't be bad consolation prizes though.

why do you guys want any one that drops? Don't you think there'd be a legit reason they'd drop? I honestly would rather reach for someone than draft someone that "experts" believe should go earlier. Haven't we been victims of this before?

Because in the draft there are always that guy who moves up because of "physical tools" that makes the other talented guy be overlooked and fall. Thats my reason anyway for example I want Lauri Markkanen but someone might pick Mitchell just because they think the physical tools make his ceiling higher same with that Frank Ntilikina guy.

If it's because some team swung for the fences and chose someone unexpected and the following teams pass because the player isn't of a position of need, then choosing a player that falls is a no brainier IMO. On the otherhand, if a player is falling due to legitimate concerns (ex: Deyonta Davis and his work ethic) then unless you're damn sure you can deal with that if you choose that player.

Back on topic: dream scenario(s) would be Ntilikina falling past the Mavericks, Harry Giles being declared indestructible and with regained athleticism, or Drummond/Jackson for another 1st round pick and a vet or something.

The way Ellenson dropped was horrible. Looking at his numbers, I know exactly why he dropped.

It makes me lose confidence in the Pistons front office actually. They went strictly off hype and the eye test. His 2pt shooting, efg, 3pt were horrible for someone that is supposed to be a shooter. From what I can see he's mainly good at dribbling the ball down the court and looking confident.

Yeah, thats why I disliked that pick he's a project with no athleticism. He's a guy that would have stayed in college if that draft wasn't so weak.

He's got some good tools and was worth a shot at 18. I agree he never should have been mocked as a top 8 pick damn near all college season but at 18 screw it. Kid needs to get stronger though so he can play at the rim a bit.

This would be worth re-visiting... teams that took a leap beyond the consensus opinion and succeeded or failed.

Dream scenario is somehow turning Dre, RJ, SJ, Henry & #12 into Cousins (or Davis) & Bledsoe

Cousins/Davis - Bobo
Jon
Mook - Harris
KCP
Bledsoe - Ish

He wasn't a surprise to all the teams that worked him out and realized he would be terrible in the pros.

Oh yeah, let's go get Ben Gordon 2.0!

Dream scenario- We trade Reggie for a low first/high second and draft Jonah Bolden

We trade Stanley, Morris & 12 to Minnie for #7 and draft Dennis Smith Jr

SVG resigns as coach and hires a competent head coach. He hasn't been completely awful as team president.

New line-up of DSJ, KCP, Harris, Bolden & Drummond, running a proper spread P&R offense with an explosive as all heck PG.

Bolden signed over seas I believe
