Not sure whether anyone caught this. He just mentioned it in passing while answering an unrelated Pistons question during his radio show last week.
He says Dre and Stan don't get along at all and Dre wants out.

I think its a big part of the reason we didn't make the playoffs last year. Dre isn't playing hard on a nightly basis anymore. Not sure if its because his boy Reggie got benched or if its because he gets pulled late in games or isn't featured offensively as much as he wants to be. The sad thing is when Stan got here all he did was hype up the chance to coach a guy like Drummond with his physical tools and now we're in it for three years its been nothing but a nightmare and Dre makes an absurd amount of money that its going to be hard to move him for anything of real value that you can sell the fanbase on making a move when's he's pretty much the face of the franchise.

Drummond lives in a dream world where he actually thought he was worth a 5th overall pick, and that he thinks he's earning his ridiculous contract. He can't stand Stan who was stupid enough to give him a friggin' max contract - Stan basically gave him free $50M that he's simply not worth. Drummond cannot be played late in tight games because he's a mental midget who chokes on the free throw line and then unlike Ben who would get pissed off at the other team embarrassing him by fouling him on purpose and going HAM defensively Dre gets discouraged and mopes.
Stan has gone out of his way to try and make Drummond - he's protected Drummond and Reggie all last season. When the team had their meeting and called out Reggie, Stan called the team meeting bull and how it was stupid, basically shaming Mook and Harris for having the temerity to challenge Reggie (and Dre) for playing 2-on-5 offensively every damn trip down the floor. Of course that's because Stan calls that play over and over and over. Stan tries to crown Dre the team leader, has him and Reggie go to watch Jennings in Grand Rapids and then waxes poetic about how that shows great leadership and how it's becoming their team - BARF. Dre is not a leader, he's been a follower his whole life. Reggie thinks he's some alpha baller, but his skills to not match his self confidence and temperament (sulking on the court) is bitchmade.
Stan and Dre both need to do. We're arguably the second worse situation in the league, maybe third worst. Brooklyn and NYK battle it out with us for that designation. Brooklyn has a new GM who seemingly knows what he's doing now and KYK likely will part ways with Phil Jackson today - but still will have Dolan.

Honestly, at this point I kind of hope we stand by Van Gundy and if Drummond wants out we can send him wherever. I would much rather have stability in management within the organization. We have went through so many coaches and everything, I don't want to move on from Stan. Who knows what this team would look like either if we didn't have to try to make it fit a broken player with limited/no offensive game as its star.
Great post, Kilo.

Trade him to Indiana for PG13 and call it a day!
Jon - Mook - PG13 -KCP - RJ
RJ would pull his head outta his ass playing with his BFF, PG13 likely makes us much better as a unit so playoffs are on and Pacers get Dre to team with Turner and can claim they're bucking the trend of small ball by starting the rebuild around 2 bigs

Meanwhile the real leader of the team is back in good graces with the coach.
http://www.nba.com/pistons/features/never-one-be-outworked-stanley-johnson-now-taking-svgs-advice-work-smarterStanley is the real key to this team if SVG will let him loose.
So glad he's done with that stupid Drew league

If i didn't think he'd bolt for LA in a year i would do it. Pretty much over Dre. Kid oozes potential but no heart.

I would do this in a heartbeat. Limited downside. If they play well and make a run, possibly PG stays and we have a star.
If they are mediocre, PG leaves (maybe takes Reggie with him) and we have dumped a terrible contract in AD, allowing us to properly rebuild.

I know one of the team physicians from DMC. He said a deal was in place to send Drummond and 12 to Sac for 10 but Gores ultimately decided against it. If true we've got a deeper problem here.

Stanley has learned that you get minutes by kissing the ring.

The real question is, why would anyone waste their time listening to Stephen A. Smith's radio show?

I'll wait until a non-blowhard reports on this.

Even if you don't like Smith's loud mouth, he does get inside scoops on whats going on in the NBA, so I figure there is some truth to this. And it isn't like we didn't have some idea as well.
If this is the case, I'll still stand by SVG. If you give into a player (at least one who isn't a bonafide star), then you lose the team and you need to start over with a new coach. So if we're keeping SVG, then Drummond is out. So bring back out the trades...
No on Paul George. Sure he's great but he clearly doesn't want to stay in Indiana and our situation isn't any closer to winning it all, so it would be a 1 year rental. I'll pass.
We should really be talking to Boston to get the Nets pick next year.

Does he though? Seriously asking. I feel like he just gets clowned for claiming to be dear friends with everyone in the league and having all these connections, but are there many actual examples of him getting inside scoops?
That said, this certainly seems believable.

Man, I'm down on Dre as much as the next guy - but trading him to leapfrog up one spot??
So basically Drummond and Kennard for Malik Monk.
(I assume Afflalo's TO and another short bad contract were involved to make the monies work.)
Dre for #10 I'd have done, but not including our #12. If that is true and Gores nixed it - that still means Stan Van Gundy and Jeff Bowers both signed off on it enough to take it to Gores. That would be telling itself if true.

I think it is fair to say that he talks to more coaches, players, agents, and GMs than anyone on this board, so it is certainly possible that he may know something

Well, if Drummond played hard, SVG would not have to be hard on him. Imagine if Drummond had a coach who babied him, he would not have gotten his big contract and prolly be worse off. Dude needs to cowboy up for once in his life.
