Is Detroit one of the 2 teams their trading with ?
The Pistons are very active they have to be one of the 2 teams.

Would not shock me at all, though if we end up taking on a player like Anderson, which would seem likely in this scenario, I'd ask for at least two 1st rounders. Even then, it's very much a gamble and the reward isn't all that great

Reggie Out, Brevin Knight back. Reggie to Knicks with Ryno to Suns. Do it Stan!

Melo to Rockets
Anderson & Courtney Lee to Pistons (reunite with Stan Van Gundy)
Jackson (Det), Leuer (Det) and Ariza (Hou) to the Knicks
Maybe move a draft pick or two around and you’ve got a deal.
Pistons starting lineup would be awfully competitive (Drummond, Harris and Anderson up front, Bradley and Lee in backcourt). Rockets get their 3rd wheel. Knicks get their new starting PG in Jackson and Ariza coming off the bench for 1 year.
Deal works financially per Trade Machine.

I don't know if that's gonna work for SVG. Brevin Knight isn't a good 3 point shooter, and his defense has probably regressed at this point (he's 41)

I meant Brandon Knight, LOLOL. Damn auto correct!
Anyways, Knight did shoot 41% from 3 on 4.9 attempts per game his last season in Milwaukee. Not saying he will be good, but depending on the coaching, he could end up adequate with better defense than Reggie!

I say no deal on bringing Ryan Anderson to Detroit without Dumping Leuer. Anderson's contract is disgusting but if somebody takes leuer it makes it ok.

Houston will need to get somebody to take Anderson if they want to trade for Melo, likely need to dump Ariza too.
Only way I'd take Anderson is to dump Leuer and Boban. Even then I'd be pretty concerned. That contract is already bad and will be unmovable if we took it on.

I'm in the minority that wouldn't really hate bringing Anderson here if we could dump Reggie and leuer. Also, as I alluded to earlier, I wouldn't pull the trigger unless we were heavily compensated with draft picks.
I know his contract is ridiculously bloated and still has 3 years on it, but I would look at it similarly to how philly overpaid for reddick and Sacramento did with hill. They're expensive contracts, but they fill a massive need.
Also, I feel that if we can put Anderson in the best possible position for him to be successful, he could be one hell of a trade chip in a year or two, much moreso than leuer or Reggie ever could be individually or collectively.

That would be a downgrade to make that trade due to taking on a worse contract for a player who plays worse defense but can only shoot better.

No deal was imminent Wednesday, but the Knicks and Rockets are confident that they have a willing third-team trade partner incorporated into the framework, the sources said. The fourth team was needed to move a particular player contract that neither the Knicks nor Rockets could or would accept in the deal, league sources said."
The note about looking for a 4th team to move a specific contract NOT currently on the Knicks or Rockets is interesting.

Maybe we are the third team and need someone to take on Jackson or some crap

I don't want the Pistons to go after Anderson, but I could certainly see Van Gundy wanting to do so. Despite his contract he is a plus shooter and the cap situation for Detroit this year and next is bleak. They might look at it as Anderson only negatively affecting their cap in 2019-20... which might actually not be negative for them if Jackson and Leuer were outgoing in this deal.
Some big ifs and assumptions there but it's not hard to try and rationalize it for Detroit's front office (and coaching staff). Still not a fan of Ryan at his price though and I like Jon's overall fit more.

I think your right Jackson has to be a part of it ,and SVG always wants to be quite till the deals done so that's why there not saying it's Detroit

Well Anderson contract isn't as awful if you expect Ellison to project in two yrs into a top level starter, cause your paying really only slightly higher for a starter and a backup for the 4 spot. So if you obtained a draft pick or two or something else of high value, its not that bad. Anderson will still be able to shoot threes 3 yes from now, and hell still be near 7ft. Dre should still be a rebounding machine, hopefully he progresses a little, and you got some picks. I feel drummamd will be better this yr. I feel like most young guys have down yes after there first big contract, then slowly progress or take a jump back to what was expected. Seems to happen in alot of sports, contrasting big contract yrs. It come uld work out for us, I always thought Laur, Ish, were asset grabs in a potential flux yr, we didn't do well, so I think they definitely move as many assets they can for solid deals. This is SVG best skill as a president, I think a four team trade with assets like Carmelo could end with us winning the trade for sure. Hopefully SVG just remembers how to coach this yr, I think all will be good . we added too many small parts quickly here lately, would be easy time to swing a trade, a lot of familiar faces around to step in quick.
