2 years left of SVG era (poll)
Kinda want to gauge where we all are right now. SVG has pulled off some pretty clever one sided trades in our favor so far but these are more for good role players. But he has yet to trade away any type of future assets in the process like 1st round picks to get to this point and has the team hovering on a playoff bubble.
- Do we stay put and still hope for some internal growth banking on a rebound year from Dre and Reggie?
- blow it up as you have no faith in anything with this team?
- Keep trying for playoffs while trying to just dump a couple guys like Drummond and Reggie
- Do we have the pieces and enough youth to really offer up some of our 1st rounders now to try add big talent to this team?
I know we all have different views and opinions so I will set up a poll but just curious is you guys are just really done with this SVG era or would like to try and continue to build on it during these last two years.

All opinions are welcome at this point as I don't think anyone is wrong whether they feel optimistic or pessimistic.

I went with Put even though I'm really for the two middle ones together. Make a deal if a good one presents, hope for internal growth and some chemistry magic from the changes. That's about all there is to reasonably expect.

Not fans of RJ or AD, but they are here so ill have to live with them. I think Stan has made good moves and bad, but for me, this has got to be the year where I see some playoff success for me to want to continue with SVG and Co. If they fall flat again, i dont see any reason to keep going with any of them.

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
I don't think the SVG era is guaranteed for another two years. I think if he fails this year, he'll get fired.
If the team honestly wants to build the foundation to be a championship team, they need to rebuild, and get a new team president and coach - that aren't the same person doing both jobs.
But, Gores seems to only desire an appearance in the playoffs to consider a season successful. So, I don't think a full rebuild is ever going to happen. This team will continue to live on the bubble of the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
He's not going to blow it up and be part of any rebuild. To me this is his last year here unless we make significant progress. 7/8th seed isn't enough even. Barring injury his floor for retention is 6th seed.
I just don't think he's good enough a coach anymore. He seems stuck in the old ways both in playing style and substance.
This is the team for better or worse this season. If I was Gores the only edict I'd have on moving assets would be no trading first rounders unless we're getting a better first rounder in return. Otherwise let Stan run the show as his contract says he can.

I went with "Put assets together to improve". That may include RJ and Dre if they show anything on the court this year. We're still way below being a contender just on our talent level.

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
I definitely want to blow it up and go the Hinkie route, but I see the Pistons continuing in their current path of fighting for one of the last playoff spots year in and year out. My preference would be to trade for picks and young players, even if that means giving up what we currently have and taking on bad contracts. Reggie and Dre are the two I would most like to see go, but I think pretty much everyone else has more trade value. The only ones I would like to keep are Kennard, Ellenson, and Stanley (at least for one more year). If we were bad enough this year we could be looking at Bagley, Porter, Doncic, or several other real nice prospects at the top of the draft next summer. I looked it up the other day and I think the Pistons are one of only two teams in the league without at least one top 6 pick on their team. The other team, Atlanta, is rebuilding right now and will very possibly have a top 6 pick next summer.

I'd personally prefer we do everything possible to dump RJ & get a PG that isn't so ball dominant...
Which means changing the offensive structures to a more motion type of deal...
Which would benefit a few of our players more than what we have now.
BUT:
I don't see SVG changing anything! He'll push for a 5-8 seed and be content with "taking the next step" this season

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
Give it to the end of this season. If we can't win at least 45 games or make a little bit of playoffs noise in the weak East then SVG should go and we should blow the whole damn thing to smithereens.

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
it's been pretty clear to me that besides the initial re-tooling/clearing house in year one that SVG has done the "put assets together to improve" route. going into year 4 under SVG drummond is the only player that was here before SVG lol. i voted for "let this group grow" but that's only because i assume it's unlikely dre or reggie are traded.
as SVG has said multiple times, this has been a ~40 win team, no player is untouchable and they`ll make any trade that they think definitely makes the team better. sometimes you just have to get incrementally better and hope for a bit of luck like a "random" player developing into an all star.

If Bradley walks, Stan should be fired.

Why? We even got a pick back in that trade.

We are a contender....for a bottom playoff spot. That means a lot to some people. Just not me.

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
All I know is that I am not making any season predictions this year for the first time in 15 years. I have zero idea how this team will fit together, if Reggie is really healthy, if the roster is even going to be consistent, whos getting time on the floor, e.t.c.
This is absolutely the most difficult Pistons team to figure out that I can recall in recent(15+years for me) memory.
This year though? Its gonna tell the tale to be sure so those out there who are ardent on one side of the fence or the other should feel good knowing its all going to come out in the wash this season. Either rise or fall. Its going to happen this year.
I wonder if SVG survives either way.

Because we gave up 2 assets for a chance to sign Bradley.

KCP on a rookie contract is a asset. KCP shooting under 39% overall from the floor at damn near 20 mil per season would take assets to get rid of. Way to big of a unnecessary gamble to take on him improving as we already got Dre and Reggie not living up to their deals.
I didn't want to max out KCP before we got AB let alone afterwards. Now we got a upgrade and we bought ourselves another year to see if the team can correct themselves before dishing out another big deal.

Re: 2 years left of SVG era (poll)
I'm fine seeing if RJ and Drummond can bounce back to 2 years ago. People forget how great that duo was. I think Dre suffered a lot from not having RJ in the P&R and so if RJ is healthy we can be a 6th seed. Also, SVG has been excellent at trades and is one homerun trade away from making us respectable again. From there we can look to vault ourselves into the top 4 seeds once CLE blows it up after the season. With that said, I'm fine moving RJ and Dre if it's for the right package.
