So Henry gets a DNP

After scoring 13 pts in 16 minutes in his 'watershed performance'.

**** off, Stan.

I'd fire him for that. Inexcusable. No other coach on earth would do that.

It's only because it's away and kennard got a chance this time, good coaching decision

Nothing about this post makes sense.

Nah, it's dumb. Henry and Luke do not play the same position, and Leuer hasn't done anything to warrant 30+ minutes with Henry getting 0.

Guys not having any idea of when they're going to see the floor just leads to inconsistent play and a lack of confidence. We've seen it time after time.

The whole "playing it safe" thing is very confusing to me when you're dealing with vets and young guys who are of comparable impact today. Galloway and Leuer are going to have bad nights just like Kennard and Henry will. The only chance this team really has at being anything other than 1st round fodder is if guys like Henry and Luke take that step toward reaching their potential. They're not just going to do that in practice and then suddenly walk into the stadium one day with this "veteran experience" that Stan desires.

A fringe playoff team in one of the worst conferences of all time has no business not playing the guys with the most raw talent as much as possible. It's the only way this team is going to improve.

Agreed.

Every time I see Leuer step on the floor my blood boils. He was overpaid to come here and play a specific role which he hasn’t been able to do except for parts of the first half of last season. He has done nothing to show he can be trusted on either end of the floor, nor has he done anything to deserve the minutes. As backup PF or backup C Ellenson should get the mins over Leuer. At this point Leuer deserves the SJ treatment, get told to do start producing the way we need and with consistency or ride the pine for 2 quarters at a time. **** I hate SVG!

Stan has a bunch of guys who really aren't distinguishable in talent. They're all kind of middle of the road in Ellenson, Leuer and Tolliver. He can't give four guys minutes every night, so he seems to be rotating them in and out of the line-up. Kennard probably won't play tonight, even though he was pretty good last night.

I'd sum it up to him still trying to figure out his rotations, and probably which guys he'd rather keep and ones he'd rather more aggressively shop.

This is what comes from signing veterans for money who play the same position as the guys you just drafted.

He's already paying Boban 7 million to not even be active and be behind Moreland on our center depth chart. He doesn't want to also pay Leuer 9 mill to not play. Sunken cost fallacy.

That said, it's only one game for Ellenson, SVG is working with a lot more behind the scenes data than that. Might not be representative of what he's capable of. Not time to get pissed....yet. We've got a whole lot of mediocre on this team, different guys are going to look decent on different days.

I'd argue since we are mediocre and likely never reaching the Finals in the next 2 years, we might as well give the young bucks the greenlight instead of going all in on another courtesy sweep by the Cavs.

I understand why SVG would go that route since it would save his job and standing as a coach, but it's backwards for longterm goals.

We've got a lot of established mediocrity. And then we've got a couple kids who could be much better than that. You don't reward a performance like Ellenson's, which could be a launching pad, with a DNP. It messes with the psyche of a young player. It's backwards and stupid. And in addition to all of that, he could have helped the team win the game. What the **** did Leuer need 32 minutes for?

I'm not reacting to an isolated incident. Stan pulls crap like this all the time. I remember last year when Boban had the game of his life, goes for something like 15 and 16 and dominates the game. Then Stan keeps him in his warmups the next game. That's not how you treat players. It's especially not how you treat a promising 2nd year player who you kept chained to the bench the year before.

I have 0 confidence that SVG knows what he's doing. He should. He's the coach, has all the data, sees them in practice, bla, bla, bla. But he doesn't.

We have a pretty deep bench actually and I think almost everyone on this roster is a capable rotation player so it's tough getting them all minutes. One thing SVG needs to change for sure though is replacing Leuer with Ellenson, Tolliver, and/or Boban. Leuer is the only player on this team that we can say for sure shouldn't be in the rotation. Drummond, Harris, Tolliver, Ellenson, Moreland, and Boban all should be ahead of him on the depth chart.

"Its only one game"-Nope. Stan has done this before its a pattern.

"Mediocre talent at that position"-Nope. Henry is clearly the more talented of the three of Tolly, Leuer, and Henry. Its actually not even close. Offensively he is the most versatile offensive player on the squad.

What this boils down to is that Stan really, really wanted this game and I understand that. A great start to a season can be huge for a young team. With that said, you never, EVER bench a young as hell player after having a great performance as it sends mixed messege and can hurt confidence.

Henry not playing yesterday was a mistake plain and simple.

Next we'll have a thread after Kennard doesn't play tonight and someone will excuse it for some other reason.

Probably wanted to be able to go small against a lineup that was going to go small. I get it, we all want to watch Henry play.

No way Moreland should be ahead of him. He's a D-leaguer. Goddddd unleash the Boban!!

Looking more and more like Bobo got signed so SVG could get another perspective on the Spurs culture

Had Baynes to get info from...2 heads are better than 1?

Yeah Bobo has defensive issues. So do a lot of our guys. Find it bizarre we had reports of playing him more, making teams adjust to us and then same ol' same ol'

I'm not questioning anything yet, its only been two games. I would say our strength is our depth, and on back to backs I would utilize that extra depth. Sit some rotation guys one night and give another guy the time that night. They are very equal for the most part. I want to see all the young kids and boban play and developed too, but as a strategy, it would actually lead to a longer runs when they do get to play I think, well see what he does.

would not be suprised if SVG's letting leur to get run to up his trade interest. I just dont' see how he continues to run with Leur when HE is clearly the better player offensively and defensively i barely notice a difference
