New Offense Question...

I like what I'm seeing as far as less pick and roll and more ball movement however a few things worry me.
I've noticed a lot of times the offense isn't flowing naturally and guys get the ball in places where they look stuck. Without even taking a dribble they're looking to pass and appear uncomfortable.
Also there are way too many times players get stuck looking to pass the ball to a specific teammate and not exploring other options. It reminds me of a young Quarterback not looking for his secondary reads.
This leads to a lot of passes being telegraphed and even if it doesn't lead to a turnover, it doesn't help in breaking down the defense.
Just my 2 cents. Wondering if anyone else noticed?

What irks me is that it seems its totally built around chucking 3 instead for driving the ball.

I love seeing all the 3's but it also seems like other teams get way more open 3 point attempts rather than many of the Pistons contested attempts.

"Without even taking a dribble they're looking to pass and appear uncomfortable."
Most guys SHOULDN'T be taking a dribble.
But yes, many of them are uncomfortable doing things that haven't been asked to do before. Hopefully they start adjusting and making quicker decisions with the ball. That pause you are seeing is the difference between actually putting pressure on the defense and giving them time to recover.

Maybe I said it wrong. They have that stuck on an island look. They look like like they don't have the option to dribble out of trouble.
And yes, that's exactly what I was trying to describe as far as giving the defense time to recover.

The fact that the offensive playbook has diversified (even a little) is nice. The season is still young, and more reps will hopefully lead to more fluid decision making and ball movement.

I totally agree. It's just surprising how blatantly players will stare and focus all their attention where they want to pass.
I don't expect everyone to make behind the back, no look passes but they stare like a 8 year old at his first playboy.
