Sell High on Reggie

Post#1 » by PistonsSince85 » Mon Nov 20, 2017 6:55 pm

SVG needs to move Reggie now while he is playing ok.

Freeing up Reggie's salary will allow us to resign Avery and eventually Harris.

I know were playing well, but Reggie has got to go.

11-5 with a bright future so lets move the starting PG for who exactly? I mean you made the thread you must have some idea of who is coming back...right?

Why? The time is finally gelling and he's playing really well, doing a great job of balancing scoring & facilitating (with several signature Mr. 4th quarter moments already this season). He looks healthy too.

He took essentially 3 and 1/2 quarters off last night.

He is barely positive in the +/- on the year.

Dumping Reggie and Leuer frees up serious cap space.

I would literally trade him for any other starting PG and a pick.

We're not winning a championship with Reggie period. Might as well shore up the funds to lock in key pieces Bradley and Harris.

You're the type of guy who wanted to keep KCP around regardless of price.

Our future is capped with Reggie at the helm.

Barring his occasional 4th quarter heroics, Reggie is useless. Gives up more on D than he provides on O and hampers our ability to resign key guys due to his outrageous contract.

Our future is bright, assuming we resign Bradley and Harris. Reggie stands in the way of that.

Might be something to consider once Harris's contract is up but right now we are playing to good to worry about 2 years from now. Plus he would have 2 full seasons removed off his contract then.

The "criticism" is that we ain't winning a championship with Reggie, so we need to trade him to ensure we free up space for guys like Tobias. Why are people so sure Tobias is a championship piece? Hell ANYBODY on this roster for that matter? I'd argue that Avery and Stanley just by how they play, and Andre just by his talent level, progression and age are the only sure championship type pieces on this team. So stop with the ridiculous criticism that we ain't winning a championship with Reggie when you can say that for 12-13 people on this roster.

Reggie has played well all season, im not trading him plus point guard is a spot that you wont really get much in return for anyway unless the guy is a top 5 pg.

While Reggie's value may be up and he may be tradeable now, your second comment doesn't make sense. So you are suggesting we trade RJ for expirings? That's the only way we "free" up his salary. But here is the crazy part - if we did that, we don't have the cap room to do anything, so we are losing him for nothing and not really helping our team. And we can sign Bradley and Harris to extensions and still keep Reggie.

11-5, trade the starting PG. Makes perfect sense.

I can't stand Reggie, but it still probably doesn't make sense to trade him at this point. We aren't going to get anything back better. His P&R game and spot up 3 ball is still valuable and he is a championship level piece. He's in a role slightly above his head, but if SVG manages his minutes right we can still be great with him. 11-5 we're doing fine, it's in a playoff series with the wrong matchup where Reggie scares me. Luckily we have Ish & Bradley.

"Your the type of guy..." What does this even mean? I am the type of guy who wants to know what I've got before moving on to the next thing.

You may have missed the memo but the Pistons are a young team and growing. If I recall correctly when the Pistons made the playoffs two years ago they were the youngest team eve to do so(pretty sure).

Youth=learning the finding themselves.

Stupid teams bail fast. Smart teams wait.

This is the reason the Pistons landed one of the greatest floor generals of all time in Billups. Its the reason the Pistons ended up with perhaps the greatest defensive player of all time in Wallace. Its the reason why Tobias Harris who is starting to look a lot like Paul George this season is on the Pistons.

Patience is a virtue for a reason.

Reggie has his warts but ill be damned if I'm on board with moving him "for any other starter". That's a panic, and quite frankly a stupid move that makes no sense on any level.

Can't even wait until at least the all-star brake huh?

Good grief.

I would move him for a sandwich, expirings and a pick or two.

He sucks. Just like KCP sucks.

Needs to be moved.

Sounds like a good stat to cite while selling him high!
