? From a Bulls' Fan-Niko

Post#1 » by pipfan » Wed Jan 3, 2018 2:21 am

I come in peace-just wondering about a deal. I figure SVG wants to win now, and make the second round. It is possible, but I think the Pistons need an upgrade. Would you guys do this deal? (I didn't see a trade thread on your board-sorry if I missed it)

Johnson, Boban, Leuer, Detroit's 2018 #1 (top 3 protected) for Niko and JHoliday

Bulls need to tank, and Niko is too good. He added weight this offseason and really looks good.

I figure you guys go
Jackson/Smith
Bradley/Holiday/rookie SG from Duke
Harris/Holiday
Niko/Harris/Tolliver
Drummond/?

That team is solid, and Detroit saves $

Bulls roll the dice on Johnson, and hopes Detroit sinks into the lottery

Thoughts?

While i can appreciate you trying to sell high on a player, this is a easy no from Detroit. Portis is probably the only player that would interest us, and i highly doubt we'd offer much for him as he's very much been underwhelming from what many projected him to be (at this point).

SVG's also notorious for being stingy with picks, so it would have to be a game changing trade to include any, not really save money.

Putting Leuer in the deal is a good touch- losing he and Boban makes this one pretty tempting.

But if there really is a chance we slip into the lottery (and it appears there is), then we have no incentive to trade a first round pick for a win now piece who's value is at his highest right now.

I'd consider this. Get to unload salary + I think the pick will end up being outside of the lotto + I have very little faith in Stanley left.

A lineup of Reggie/Bradley/Harris/Mirotic/Drummond, once everyone gets healthy, sounds pretty formidable.

That lineup looks ugly defensively.

Harris and Mirotic are redundant, Holiday wouldn't make the rotation in Detroit, we have too many SG's already and they're all better defenders and way more efficient offensive players than him.

I'd make it a Top 10 protected pick and do it in a heart beat. You're telling me you're taking our bad contracts and johnson who's looking like a bust on offense and a protected first to give us one of the best frontcourt in the league and we keep harris and put him at SF. What a swap!

I wish SVG gets offered that. He'd salvage the Johnson pick and his two bad contracts and we get a great player out of it who would dominate next to Drummond. Issue is does Mirotic play like our offense? Needs to fit with Drummond's passing

Getting Mirotic is like getting a Pau Gasol type of player. You do it. He'd kill it on the Spurs. Good coaches maximize talent like him and he can shoot lights out

judging by how SVG sits everyone that doesn't play defense, highly doubt Mirotic would start. You add the fact we aren't getting the better side of this deal, i don't believe SVG would do it.

add portis and its a lot closer

Tough call only because of the 1st rounder with limited protections. With Reggie being out we have a decent chance of slipping and being lottery bound. I think the pick is most likely in the 8-18 range. I make the trade if we can get top 8-10 protect year 1.

Agree with this.
