He doesn't do a single thing at an NBA level

Tough crowd. Nobody is saying he's a friggin starter. What do you all expect for a 4th PG.

Dude has NBA experience.

Not sure what more people can expect from a 2 way contract player.

I was hoping we’d give Smush Parker another look

i wonder if shifting DB's contract to standard and signing Kay means DB ,Ish, or RJ are being traded. Makes very little sense to have a 4th pg.

I think it's a decent signing. The chances of him actually playing are slim so it's worth a shot.

It's just a two way deal anyways. But it worked well with Buycks so who knows cause I'm sure these were the same expectations for him as well.

Buycks can't be traded - he needs to be signed for 30 days before he can be traded. I think what this does say is that Reggie will be back this season. Kay Felder has NBA experience and could be a 3rd PG in the league. Given we played with 2 PG's rostered until Reggie went down, I wonder if that is Stan's plan with the two-way contract - have the 3rd PG playing 35 minutes a game in GR rather than DNP-CD's on the bench all season so should they be called on they're in game shape. But I digress, if Reggie was seen as lost for the season or even not expected back at the short end of the estimate one would think we'd have traded for a rotation caliber point guard, bumping Buycks back to 3rd guard. But signing Kay Felder, he's our emergency pg should we lost Ish or Buycks, bridging the time until we could get Reggie back.

Or Grand Rapids could just use a point guard and Kay is a local boy and easy fan favorite.

Anybody know if Detroit brought Felder in for a pre-draft workout?

Might provide some insight on the move.

Mike James did great for Phoenix, I wish we signed him too bad he went to the Pelicans

The Reggie Jackson machine must really be broke if we’re getting a 4th point guard

He can only play a pro-rated 45-days on our roster. He's basically the bridge 3rd pg until Reggie comes back and then needs to spend ROS in Grand Rapids. Right now we only have Ish and Buycks as pure PG's rostered. I think this signing is a positive indication of how the Reggie injury healing is going.

We did, but we had 49 players come in for a workout and most of those were second round prospects so not sure there’s much to read into.

Felder played in a weaker conference but he was very productive in college and he’s similar to Isaiah Thomas in that he’s tiny but very athletic and a talented scorer. Not expecting anything but glad the pistons took a chance on him.

It's a 2way contract, so I wouldn't read anything into it. And realistically, SVG really maxed out his 2 way benefit this year. I know it just because of injury, but we've got a rotation player for nothing right now. Maybe this will convince him he doesn't need to spend 7 mil on every end of the bench player.

He's more suited to be the change of pace point guard behind Trey Burke on our new XBA franchise, the Motown Mighty Macs.
