Will we make another trade before the deadline?

I'm sure Bowers and SVG, now that they are done with the Griffin presser are back on the phones working. So will they be able to pull of one of our many great ideas? :-)

I think Stan will absolutely move Johnson if he gets the right deal. If he can't get what he wants for Johnson I'm not sure he has the bait to get what he wants.

Move=Johnson gone
No move=Johnson stays

I hope so.

My goals for trades have changed now that the team has chosen a win-now approach.

Somebody like Bellinelli. But not him because he makes too much money and not worth paying the tax for this season.

Ellenson and a SRP will be shipped out for this player.

If the starting wings are Johnson and Bullock, we've got no backup SF and Galloway will never see the court, can't play PG and won't see minutes behind Bullock and Kennard. Trade him for a bigger wing or PG would be substantial.

I never thought we had the pieces to get someone like Blake, I now won't be surprised if we somehow land Kemba or someone else big.

LeBron James

Since there is a thread about trading him on the general board, why not

Pistons go large ball

R. Jackson
S. Johnson
L. James
B. Griffin
A. Drummond

For real? We probably send out Ellenson and a 2nd for a small named shooter.

Ellenson and picks seems like the most logical assets to trade. Maybe a future first to get someone good. Considering we won't fully tank, won't ever win the lottery, and Stan's questionable drafting, maybe it's not a big deal to trade a future first :-)

What if we called back the Clippers and removed the protection on the 2018 first (freeing up future picks), traded RJ + Ellenson + 2020 unprotected first for Kemba?

Too risky for my liking. We could still miss the play-offs and if that lottery 1% chance hit that wouldn't be good. I wonder if Stanley's game against Cleveland was more about wanting to be here again and playing with Griffin.

I sure wish Henry had some more value. Yesterday he seemed invisible during most of the game.

Now with Blake Griffin locked into the PF slot for years to come there's even less opportunity for him to develop.

I think SVG keeps Johnson through the rest of the season for one last look. Seems like the offense will be changed up now, maybe there is a better fit role for Stanley.

Send him to the G-League - they play Feb 1st, 3rd and 7th. Some team might see some promise in him. And if we keep him, leave him there anyways to play minutes to develop, he's not going to do that with the Pistons the ROS. We can use Brice Johnson as our emergency PF racking up DNP-CD's.

I totally agree. What's the story on Brice Johnson? Was he just a throw in since his rookie option wasn't exercised?

He was very good in college at UNC. This is just his second year in the league.

We'll need cheap depth - Johnson was probably looking at a 2-way contract at best if he played out the season with LAC. I think Stan will get a look at him in practice and if he likes what he sees he could get a Moreland type offer. Gone are the days of $6M and $7M back-up and third string centers. All our third stringers will be on vet minimum deals.

Jameer Nelson has also been traded to the Bulls along with Tony Allen and Omer Asik.

Just like Tony Allen, the Bulls are likely going to end up waiving Nelson. He could still latch on with a contender if that happens, but there's no fantasy appeal for the time being.

Cut B. Johnson, sign Pondexter?
Trade B. Johnson for Allen or Nelson?

Charlotte didn't jump at Harris and a first round pick, and that deal is worse. Detroit isn't getting Walker.

As for the poll, I voted no. The Pistons just don't have many enticing pieces to trade that they would actually want to move now. Johnson is a popular name thrown out there, but he and Bullock are the only guys who can play legitimate minutes at the three. I mean sure Stanley could be moved for another guy who can play there, but I wouldn't hold my breathe. Especially not for someone who would be a huge upgrade given the only somewhat decent asset that could be attached otherwise is Ellenson (Kennard isn't going anywhere).

I think we'll wind up using the Leuer DPE and / or the TPE from the Blake trade to add a wing player or guard. Nothing huge, but something to better balance the roster. Kinda a "smoke 'em if you've got 'em" move with the exceptions.

I hope so... this roster is really top heavy and I'd love to see some changes to better compliment the new direction of the team.

It's not worth going into the tax this season - so we have $2M to play with there. We'll need to go into the tax the next two seasons, and the "re-offender" progressive tax rate is a killer.

Ellenson/Moreland for Hezonja rental or Ellenson/Moreland/2018 Second Round Pick for Tyreke Evans rental.
