Who should be Head Coach/GM if SVG is Done

I would certainly do two people for that job instead of one. I feel like the dual role has never really worked out anywhere.

For head coach I would love to Give Jay Wright a shot, but I doubt he will be available unless we backed up a brinks truck. The lack of success of College coaches in the NBA would worry me, but I don't think we have a lot to lose next year.

Chauncey needs to be GM and he should decide who coach is.

I think some form of Tellem and Chauncey is going to be GM. Coach feels like Gores gives Doc Rivers a stupid amount of money.

Promote Tellem to President of Basketball Operations.
GM I could actually see us keeping Bower around. Wouldn't be opposed to Chauncey, but not as excited about it as some others are.
Hire Fizdale as coach

You think he would reunite Rivers and Blake?

I think he's going to hire a "name" guy. Maybe not Doc, but I think it'll be an experienced guy.

Tellem for President- maybe GM, maybe someone he's close to in that position.

Coach? I dunno. Someone who wasn't recently fired. I've had enough of picking up someone who didn't work out somewhere else.

If SVG isn't fired by Monday I'd assume he's staying on at least as head coach. I think the longer you wait with this type of thing the harder it might become to find a replacement. The thing with SVG is, he isn't a terrible coach. We've had plenty of those after Flip Saunders left. But he also isn't a top 10 coach. He's not bottom 10 either. He's somewhere in the middle most likely 15-18 range of current coaches. But even though he's a slightly below average coach I think this team needs a new voice. He isn't going to get the most out of his players next season. He'd be a lame duck which is just going to put the team in a bad position next year. He clearly hasn't earned himself an extension so he's got to go.

Also, with the bad rap the NCAA has gotten this year over players getting paid, and the idea that players SHOULD be paid by colleges but instead coaches get insane paydays in college football and basketball I wouldn't be surprised to see a good young NCAA coach or two make the jump to the NBA. The best case scenario would be to get the next Brad Stevens.

I doubt a "big name" coach would take the job, but who knows. If Gores if throwing money around, anything is possible.

I just want someone with an aggressive defensive style and higher motion offense. The way the game is officiated now, you can't really sit back and be content to get a hand up on shots. There is just too much space for the offensive players to work in, so if you disrupt their flow somehow, they will pick you apart.

Yeah with 4 teams already looking for a new head coach, can't afford to wait around and then end up picking from the leftovers. We should either fire SVG or commit to him for another year, no dancing around it for weeks.

Wiretap says Knicks are considering David Fizdale, David Blatt, Mark Jackson, and Jerry Stackhouse. Those all sound like intriguing options.

Stackhouse would be interesting, he's had a lot of success with the Raptors G-League team: won the championship last year and coach of the year. The Raptors bench is filled with guys they developed in the G-League right?

F*** it, let's go Chauncey as GM and Stack as coach. Full on nostalgia, maybe it'll put some butts in those empty red seats at LCA

It would be cool to have Chauncey & Stack here.

I could see Stan giving up HC job to focus on FO and hiring Clifford as HC.

Bringing up a college coach would be exciting but I also wouldn’t mind giving Stackhouse a chance, it seems like he’s been talked about a lot as an up and coming candidate.

If we go for a guy that has experience, players seem to speak highly of Fizdale. I imagine that would be a long shot though. He’ll get his choice of where he wants to go and why would he want to come here lol.

Clifford might be interesting. Don’t hate me lol. We know the Hornets have been meh but he’s supposedly strong defensively. I think that kinda fits what most people would like to see.

I’ll be happy if we go a high risk hire right about now because we honestly have nothing to lose.

I'd strip him of his front office powers, in the very least. Let him coach out his final year for all I care. No great candidates are coming to coach this team, in this city.
