Looks like we will be able to add one FA for about $5 million and the rest of the roster will be minimum salary guys to fill it out. Who might we be able to get for that $5 million?

I actually think Ennis is our most likely free agent signing.

We'll let Tolliver walk and sign Ennis or someone comparable because we need another wing.

Also, Danny Green opted in. He's not a free agent.

Rodney Hood - No. I don't think we get any RFA for $5M for that matter.
Isaiah Thomas - No. Will get at least full MLE on a 1 & 1 deal.
JJ Reddick - No.
Kyle Anderson - No. Will stay in SA.
Wayne Ellington - Possibly, but not a need per se. Also doesn't come with Spo.
Thaddeus Young - Opted in IIRC.
Fred VanVleet - No.
Rudy Gay - No. Also didn't he not work under Casey in TO?
Ersan Illyasova - Maybe, but do not want.
Joe Harris - Long shot but possible.

I think our best chance at a home run swing is a point guard like Payton. But that leaves a huge hole at SF.

I wanna take a shot at GRIII. I think Ennis is most likely as well because we could probably get him for $3M again, and that would leave us a couple million under the tax as a buffer for in season trades or even to sign a post-deadline veteran cut.

Still holding out hope all the talk about not paying the tax is a smokescreen and we sign somebody unexpected to a MLE deal tomorrow.

Probably going to just sign Ennis and thats it, hoping for a Galloway trade.

Also look out for the possibility we use the Boban TPE rather than any of the MLE and trade for a player on a tax or capped out team looking to open space. We could get a player we could use and another asset like a second rounder.

This is the route I prefer to go down. But I would put a slightly different spin on it. I'd use the TPE to dump Leuer or Galloway while taking back someone useful that is 5 mil/season more than them.

In Leuer's case take back someone around $15 mil/season
In Galloways case take back someone around $12 mil/season

If we want can’t we spend more like 8.3 mil or something? If that’s possible you might get lucky and get someone decent but not sure with 5 mil

Yeah he was a huge chucker but I thought he’s been a bit more under control since that Achilles injury but he was also in SA

That puts a different spin on it. There aren't many guys/contracts that are $5 mil or less who aren't on rookie deals. Which makes it less likely a team would be willing to move someone decent for Detroit to absorb with the TPE.

Joe Harris and Doug McDermott both signed on day one. That should give us a pretty good sense of what the market really looks like here.

Never really thought either of those were very likely though.

Ersan and McDermott get Galloway contract, Harris gets 16M over two. Let these guys sign quickly - they're jumping at first offers because they don't want to be left holding he bag when all the money is spent.

I'm so glad we don't have a lot of money to work with, some of the contracts given out already are reminding me of Leuer/Boban/Galloway contracts.

Chris Paul gets 160M over 4 from Houston.

I'm excited to see how much money KCP lost after turning down 4 years $60 million. He got $17 million for one year so he needs 3 years $43 million to break even on the contract he turned down from SVG.
