Pistons hired Warriors Analytics guy.

I don't know how anyone can complain about what Stefanski is doing considering what SVG left him to work with.

Not just a number cruncher. He formed relationships with point guards Curry and Livingston, and provided The coach with lineup change advice.

To me this is a big deal because this really helps Dwayne and hopefully it will help the point guards... Big IQ influx for the Pistons.

Love this hire, everything I have read about this guy makes me excited that hes on our team now.In that article it says his analysis led the Warriors to trying to make 300 passes a game. Warriors were last in passes a game and then Kerr turned to Gelfand who helped evolve the warriors style of play now with all the ball movement. This is what I want the pistons to do, we need as much ball movement as possible.

Ed Stefanski hires someone whose name I did not know yesterday and somehow I have magically become pleasantly surprised with the work of Ed Stefanski. I'm not sure how that works, but I'll take it.

OK - poaching staff from a championship team isn't exactly a ground breaking technique...... but it's a pretty good one.

It happens with every championship team. 2 recent Warrior assistant coaches have been hired for head coaching jobs in the last few years. There's a long list of Spurs assistants who have been given bigger jobs elsewhere. Heck, even the 2004 Pistons got poached.

Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it's not.

Looking through this guys’s LinkedIn it’s interesting that other than the warriors job he has no other analytics background...even in college. Wonder how these guys get hired

They take the equivalent of one stats class for most MS Sports programs. Would be cool if someone picks up a legit mathematician and gives them real responsibility.

Yeah it happens often. For us it's the GMs. Bucks GM and Knicks GM were Dumars' assistants. Yeah GMs from back then are still heralded as good even after everything happened. I'm surprised Dumars isn't back working as a GM already.

I would think it would be pretty hard to scrape off the Josh Smith, Ben Gordon, and Charlie Villanueva signings from your reputation. Yes, he built the 2004 championship team but I think it's more about what you have done lately...

Tell that to Stefanski and Colangelo.

I 100% agree! Stefanski has done a tremendous job in identifying draft pIcks, a head coach, executives, free agents, and just putting the Pistons on firm footing going forward. Kudos to Gores as well for selecting Ed Stefanski.

Colangelo's done after his twitter adventure.

I think Dumars not getting another NBA job opportunity has a lot to do with him being outed as a wojo source.

76ers said they didn't believe Colangelo was part of the twitter sweepstakes. They had to fire him anyway because sensitive private information was released.
