Hi all!

The last few years I've dropped a bunch of notes from Summer League. This year we broke them up by conference! Here is the East:

I learned a lot. And not just that I don't enjoy transcription!

Hope you enjoy!

New regime for the Pistons seems a lot more tight lipped.

Combination of it being hard to find people to talk to period. and those you did find being less open than the last few years.

The whole staff was put together a couple of weeks before the league by in large and probably don't know how open the org wants to be. Stan was an open book and his staff would play off that. A lot of our staff outside of Lowe got pretty major promotions and probably don't want risk ruining it right out of the gate by speaking out of turn.

KEITH P SMITH wrote:- On expectations for 2018-19: “If we’re healthy, we’re a playoff team. We’ve got far too much talent for anything else. And the roster is pretty well-balanced now too.”
- On Bruce Brown Jr.: “He was supposed to be a first rounder last year. He’s a kid who going back to school hurt him. He got injured and then struggled. But he showed here that he’s pretty good. We’ve got a lot of guards, so we can take our time. But he’ll be an NBA rotation guy.”
- On the offseason additions: “We needed another vet up front and Zaza (Pachulia) will give us that. He’s tough and plays defense. Pretty ideal backup for Dre (Andre Drummond). Glenn (Robinson III) will give us a versatile wing who can come off the bench or start. Lost year last year with the injury, but he can do a lot of things. And Jose (Calderon) will give us that perfect third point guard. If anything happens to Reggie (Jackson) or Ish (Smith), we know we’re not going to fall apart.”

this is what the notes were.

the bolded part at least shows that new management has learned from the old management's mistakes. since reggie and ish are a big part of the offense, getting a competent (proven) third string PG is important and not relying on g league players.
