Could they be any worse my god lol. If we had anybody that can hit an outside shot we'd be pretty darn good. How's Bazemore and Fournier looking lol

I completely blame SVG’s point guard fetish. For SVG, point guard was his only hope and solution to everything. We signed Jameer Nelson. Last year, for goodness sake.

SVG had no eye for wings. Fortunately Ed Stefanski seems to be a lot better at drafting. Drafting well (not tanking) but drafting well is the only way to have lasting success in the league. Trades can make you better for 1 or 2 years, but drafting WELL and team building builds dynasties.

And it’s not a crapshoot. You just need a front office that can do it.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

At least Bullock is having his god awful year before needing a new contract rather than after.

You can't be competitive in this day and age with wings this bad. Actually, with any 2 starters as bad as our wings have been you can't be competitive in ANY era, but wings are particularly important now.

Our wings are horrible, but no, we wouldn't be "pretty darn good" if we upgraded the wings. Our pg is not good. Our bench is not good. Our defense is not good. This team has lots of flaws.

Yeah they're pretty bad. It's funny because wings are an abundance in the league right now. That's why I want Johnson traded so bad. There's countless great shooters out there. Get rid of him!

And it gets worse when Casey goes small ball with Johnson or GRIII at the 4-spot.

And this years draft class looks pretty weak outside the very top. And we're capped out so no impact FA's.

Don't remember such a bad combo of point guard, shooting guard and small forward in a team not tanking

Our starting line up has the worst offensive rating in the NBA. Production from our PG's would probably improve if any of our SG's or SF's could make shots consistently. Since the opposition is packing the paint and ignoring all of our players on the perimeter our PG's are left with driving into a clogged paint or chucking semi contested 3's off the dribble. Can't create much if the defense is only watching two guys. It makes no sense that Robinson is only getting 12 minutes a game. He is easily our best healthy SG/SF.

I still can’t understand people wanting to make trades for players like Fournier and Bazemore.
Why? So we can become the 7th seed?

Just let the season play out, any trades that are made should be made in the opposite direction.
Look at the 2019 draft, it’s completely loaded on SF’s and SG’s

I’m with you. There are no trades available, absolutely zero even if the Pistons gave away all their draft picks for the next five years, that would make this team a championship contender. They’re too flawed.

Not to mention all the countless “it’s POSSIBLE” trades (read: Jimmy Butler) rather than LIKELY trade scenarios. It’s like people believe other teams are sitting out there begging to make equal value trades with the Pistons for no other reason than to help the Pistons get better.

Stanley's the main problem. Guy just straight kills us on offense. Put any league average 3 in his place and we're a much better team right away. At least the Reggie's have shown they can get it done, I expect at least Reggie B's shot to start falling soon.

Reggie Bullock has actually been worse offensively than Stanley this year.

And I don't know that it's going to get better. Last year was a bit of an outlier. It'll probably get a bit better but his days as a sharpshooter for us may well be over.

The entire team is pretty bad outside of Blake and Dre. Three through whatever we are one of the worst teams in the league.

It’s a lack of perspective. People wanting to make moves like that are displaying the same attitude that got us into this mess, and they don’t even realize it.

Giving up assets to become marginally better, especially where it involves bad contracts, is something you do when you’re missing one piece on an otherwise strong team. This team needs systemic changes- changes from the ground up.

There’s nothing to do here but wait, be patient, and hope the new regime drafts better. Maybe see if you can get some picks in trades for our pieces that might have value.

Patience isn’t an easy thing to preach when you’ve been bad for a solid decade already, but nothing is going to undo over a decade of inept management.

It doesn't matter what we might want. It's what Gores wants and he wants to win now. He traded for Blake Griffin to pay him $120M not to rebuild with him. He brought in COY Casey and paid him $7M a year on a five year contract not to tank over it and rebuild again to be competitive just as that gaudy contract is up. This is very likely Casey's last stop - he didn't sign on to rebuild. He was going to get paid to stay home for the season by Toronto and could have waited for a mid-season phone call or next off-season when 3-4-5 vacancies opened up.

This team isn't going to ride it out, let the bad contracts expire and then start a slow rebuild. Gores wants in the playoffs. Gores forced swapping out 8,000 lower bowl seats from red to black because he didn't like how the empty seats showed up on television.

I hope a few posters actually read that
