There's no way they'd be willing to include a second rounder here. They're probably from Milwaukee. Or at least they better be.

Hell to us including any. I guess it would explain the 2021 LAL pick though. We should be GETTING one of those picks.

The Bucks will include center Jason Smith and recently-acquired forward Stanley Johnson along with four first-round picks.

Surely, that's a typo or outright mistake right?

Four second round picks. Unclear if they are all from Bucks or if one is from Pistons.

Yeah but the Bucks are the team getting a quality upgrade rotation guy without giving one up.

For us it's just swapping one bust for another, and one that we owe money to for an extra year at that.

Detroit sure hell better not be including any picks.

Surely, they didn't attach a draft pick just to dump a bad player for an equally bad player. They would have been MUCH better off just renouncing Stanley this summer.

All from the Bucks - two of theirs and two they are owed from Washington.

Sure, but is he 3 SRP's + all expiring contracts better?

Regardless this just goes to show how much value guys who can consistently knock down 3's really hold. Detroit gave away Bullock.

Guy averages 17 and 8 in like 29 minutes. Shoots pretty good from 3 and is 6'10". Other guy is 6'7", gets like 12 pts, 2 rebs, 2 assists a game in 30 minutes. Also shoots better from 3.

Really hard to see why Nikola was more valuable.

Wow, our GM didn't think a package of Stanley/or Bulluck and Luer+ two 2nd rounders could get Mirotic? He would have been a solid piece off the bench. Da#n man!

We haven't lived the Thon experience. Buck fans seem to like him about as much as we like Stanley.

Many seem to be like, well he's 7 feet and he can shoot. He's not a good shooter. The guy has hit 31% of his triples dating back to last season and is a career 65% from the line. It's weird to me that some here are equating this to "shooting unlike Stanley." You don't want a guy who shoots like that just launching, it only makes his percentages look worse.

He's also got a very very slow release, and that has to do with his athleticism and coordination. It takes him a while to catch, gather, and pull. He needs to be WIDE open.

Bucks fan here. Unlike most Bucks posters, who don't like Thon, I think he has legitimate skills. First, he is a very smart player and understands the game. Listen to any interview with him. Second, he definitely can shoot, but has been inconsistent because of inconsistent playing time. He also is a good defender and shot blocker. He was instrumental in last year taking the Celtics to 7 games in the playoffs.
His downside is that he appears to have small hands and he doesn't rebound well for a guy his size. And despite being a tireless worker, he has a frame that doesn't appear to be able to add much weight. It's a good trade for both teams. Detroit takes a flyer on a young talent ( despite the jokes about his age) and Milwaukee will undoubtedly not resign Johnson and use the savings to resign as many of their 4 starters who are free agents. There was just no room or future for Thon on the Bucks.

Lastly, like most fans, most Bucks posters live in the what have you done for me lately camp. Until several weeks ago, DJ Wilson was their whipping boy. Most posters thought he was one of the worst picks the Bucks ever made. Now, these same posters, are in love with the guy, since he was finally given a chance to play and he has played relatively well. It's the nature of uninformed fans.

Lol don’t let this guy get your hopes up. Thon is a high energy baby giraffe that throws knees and elbows at people due to being so uncorodinated. He has the worst hands ever, he is a hard worker but still looks exactly the same as he did when he was drafted (lol). He brought up DJ Wilson, but he never played before a month or two ago. We’ve seen Thon for two and a half years. He’s trash. He’s going to be out of the league after his rookie deal is up.

Probably because for the Pelicans this deal was all about getting picks while not any salary after the year. The trade you are mentioning would require us to include a first to make up for NO taking on the extra year of Jon's salary. Odds are we wouldn't be able to keep Nikola after this season so we'd be giving up picks for 30ish games from a back-up PF.

I know Stanley frustrated us, but the more I reflect on the trade the more I dislike it. He was showing flashes and is still a better player than Maker. Plus Maker is signed through next year.

The only upside is we won't give Stanley an undeserved extension, but that's cold comfort.

He wanted out. And his trade value was in his expiring contract - to Milwaukee and to New Orleans. At least he landed in a spot where he could get playing time on a team not thinking playoffs. What does Gentry think of mid-range shots?
