Ellington about to sign....there goes Kennard's closer look

Post#1 » by Kaboom3 » Fri Feb 8, 2019 5:50 pm

I knew it...Kennard finally gets a chance to get an extended look and here comes another journeyman to eat up his minutes. It's a fact that Casey simply is not a fan of Kennard which is a real shame. LK just needs a chance and it's never going to happen in Detroit. :banghead:

There should be enough minutes for everybody man, chill, like you have no wings, Leuer and Robinson are terrible

I'd probably go with something like

Jackson-Smith
Kennard-Ellington
Brown-Galloway
Griffin-Mykhailiuk
Drummond-Maker or Zaza

Maybe play GRIII if he improves but that's about it, Kennard should get +20minpg if he is productive easily

Hilarious. We now have two Langston Galloways. Can't wait to see this contract....

Such a waste, isn’t pistons suppose to be in tank mode?
A lot of teams could use him instead of pistons.

Probably a minimum deal for the rest of the season. Ellington is still getting money from his buyout and wants to hit free agency this summer.

Wayne probably is attracted to a starting role and/or significant minutes in Detroit. Contenders can't offer that.

Wayne is a really good get, nothing like LG. Hopefully he slides LG out of the rotation.

Even if you don’t like the direction he’s definitely not Langston. I remember reading a article not to long ago about him being in the 99th percentile in catch and shoot situations I believe.

Ellington is a shooter and a team player with QI. Galloway is an awful chucker.

They're both in the league due to their ability to occasionally get hot from 3.

I like ellington as a player, but why? I can't see him resigning on a small, short deal in the summer.

yeah no they are not, Ellington is a great movement shooter (think Redick style) that is solid at team defense, Galloway is a press Guard on defense that can score a bit if he gets hot

If we kept Bullock and signed Ellington we could have done something this season. After let Bullock go for a bag of cheetos makes no sense to add Ellington. We're getting the 8th-10th pick again and drafting the next KCP/SJ/Monroe etc etc.

Am I wrong, but doesn't kennard have equal or better numbers and percentages then the 31 year old Ellington has had over his career? And this is a better long term move...how?

With a little tailoring and a couple new letters the Pistons save significant money on new uniforms when they release Ellenson. Makes sense to me.

Exactly. He can get minutes and thus stats with us, all of which he can use as leverage for his next contract.

I see our wings as Ellington and Kennard. We will suck defensively but idc.

Ellington isnt afraid to shoot it like Kennard is.

Looks like Henry is getting cut to make room for Ellington. Interesting how 2 of SVG’s lottery picks were dumped for next to nothing. Those picks really set this team back. Hopefully Kennard can start to find a rhythm during the remainder of the season.
