Ellenson waived
With Ellington on Board Henry is gone. What a horrible draft pick. Stan even admitted he didn’t do research on him because he thought he would be gone before our pick. Did anyone ever think he would be good?

Re: Ellenson waived
He just never looked like an NBA player. I wonder if any team out there gives him a shot.

Good riddance scrub, a few years too late tho. A few more scrubs need to go before I consider watching another game.

Yeah I wish I could find the interview but I'm 99% sure I remember SVG saying he didn't even watch a minute of his college tape because they expected him to be gone by their pick. I remember thinking that was weird at the time but in hindsight it's just another bluff by that regime

Re: Ellenson waived
Maybe Stan thought he'd get Maker in that draft and after he was taken just took the highest rated player left on the board. "Thon's gone? Just get someone!"
Even in his absence we're doing Stan's bidding.

I feel sorry for him, but he's a total scrub

The ONE time Stan actually took the BPA in a draft, instead of a guy he had his heart set on, was the worst one possible.

Re: Ellenson waived
Henry should do well in the G-league for a couple years, maybe earn a bit more overseas. A couple million goes a long way in Wisconsin so he'll be all right.

Re: Ellenson waived
Ellensons issues are mental.. he has zero killer instinct and couldnt perform in the minutes he was given. I'm sure svg ruined his confidence and was int he wrong situation to begin with.
Meanwhile Caris Lavert went pick 20 and despite injuries is one of the best mid tier guys in this league.

Re: Ellenson waived
I’m sure he’ll get a chance somewhere in the nba but I think he’d do a lot better in Europe.
His lack of athleticism is just too big an obstacle to overcome.

Brooklyn just cut Mitch Creek, no way they sign Ellenson.

Re: Ellenson waived
Some team will kick the tires on him as a 10 day. If he’s eligible for a two way contract, he’ll absolutely get a shot.
You know how we all view the Pistons as horrible at developing youth, I’m thinking some teams do as well

Re: Ellenson waived
As I said when we announced we weren't exercising his option and sent him to the D-League (at the time I thought he wouldn't come back): see yah later Ellenson. You're a nice guy but the NBA isn't for you. Hope you've saved enough money for whatever your next venture is. Good luck doing something else (or playing somewhere else, you never know, maybe China or something).
There's something disheartening about seeing one bust draft choice dealt at the deadline and one bust waived. Kind of serves as a microcosm of how bad we've been at this whole drafting and player development thing.

Re: Ellenson waived
dinwiddie on a podcast last month talked about how Stan wanted to win now and didn't care about the development of players. shows you how much of an idiot Stan was and anyone picked with our picks would have been benched or lost confidence.
Gilbert arenas talks about how Stan loses the locker room every where he goes and is a horrible people person in relation to the players on his podcast from time to time
I can totally see Mitchell being a bench guy getting limited minutes behind Galloway and Devin Booker peaking where kennard is now under Stan.

I always loved how he would draft a player then overpay for a bench player who played the same position.
Both Kennard and Ellenson were nixed for an overpaid terrible contract before they played their first game with us.
I don't think Ellenson ever would have become anything though. He looked genuinely clueless out there.
