You know how we all view the Pistons as horrible at developing youth, I’m thinking some teams do as well

Yeah, that's my hunch. Looking at Ellenson's D-League stints, someone gave him the green light to shoot 3s when he needed to develop an NBA inside game, work on defense.

Didn't really feel like this needed a new thread. But Henrys joining the knicks on a 10 day. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nba/pistons/2019/02/20/detroit-pistons-henry-ellenson-new-york-knicks/2925589002/

which should be the entire story, but knicks gotta knick.

Eh, it's a 10 day. Nothing surprising about a former first rounder getting a second look. Doubt he gets a second 10 day but he's a nice guy and I'm happy he's getting one last look.

Heck, if you're a high lottery pick like Darko, Kwame Wesley Johnson you can have a 10 year career despite being a total bust. Unless your name is Anthony Bennett, I guess.

.

Trey Burke, Noah vonleh, Emmanuel mudiay, and Mario hezjona. Not saying Henry is guaranteed to stick, but if any team is willing to try.... especially with them tanking

Rooting for him, seems a good kid. A guy like him has got to be an absolute sniper from deep to even survive in this league.

I'll take Maker any day of the week. He does what Ellenson was supposed to do (and was actually incompetent at) plus he can block some shots and rebound a bit.

I like Maker, I think he is a fun player to watch (hustles/has grit) BUT the dude has terrible hands. Seems like nearly every time he makes a move to the basket, tries to collect a loose ball, etc. he can't hold onto the ball.

ok? I forgot how we traded ellenson for maker. or what thon even has to do with this post.

I mean I'll take middleton over henry every day of the week...

Henry made his knick debut. 1 foul in 4 minutes and he missed a 3pter.

Ellenson was supposed to be our stretch 4 and some hoped he would at least be our backup stretch 4. Maker has already become that and has done a nice job overall in that role. I thought the connection was quite clear.

He's been doing well offensively and looks a hell of a lot less lost on both ends of the court. Will be interesting to see if he can keep it up after this game.

It's only one game so take ti with a grain (or handful) of salt, but it makes you question how many players careers haven't developed because they weren't put in the best position to succeed. Fizdale empowers his players and through his nurturing he has enabled a few young players to step up and play with confidence. Will be very Pistonesque if Ellenson goes on to become a useful player.

Our last game of the season has now become a red-letter day on the calendar... Don't miss it as an emerging All-Star comes back to torch LCA and stare everyone down on our bench.

Not everyone gets a second chance, but I'm glad for him getting a second look. Hope he's able to make the most out of it and prove to himself whether he does indeed deserve a place in the league.
