I think buying g low on a player is the way to go, maybe Josh Jackson. Dont think he is panning in PHX.

We need a legit three, and we should probably move on from Reggie because of the injury issues (yeah, I know he's good when he's healthy).

That three needs a jumper, and so does the PG. If you're building around aging Blake (essentially turning into a point forward) and Dre's lack of jumper, everyone else needs to have a legit shot.

I think Robert Covington would be a great fit but he routinely misses 15 games per season. I'd do the expiring + 17th pick for him but I can't help but think it may be short sighted.

As thrilling as it might be to get Robert Covington, I believe it might be best to try to find someone to develop with that pick.

Other options to explore:

-Jaylen Brown
Boston is going to have to make some hard decisions about how they use their cap space and it will be interesting to see if he's available at some point and at what price.

-Terrance Ross
How is his defense? Is he just a better version of Galloway?

-Justin Jackson
Is he part of Dallas' future? Could he develop into that role?

I like DeMarre Carroll and we should be able to get him for the MLE. He is big and good defender and he is an average 3 point shooter.

Taurean Prince is another guy I like a lot but not sure if we can get him.

Other than those 2 guys I have no idea. Ross is good but we need a better defender, and I see Ross more like a scorer off the bench, we have Kennard for that already. Justin Jackson is absolutely awful, Jaylen Brown is unrealistic.

I'm not too interested in DeMarre Carroll at this point. If the Pistons can't get anyone better I'd only give him a 1 year deal as he'll be 34 next season. I also see Carroll more as a 3/4.

If the Pistons are pursuing veterans rather than younger guys with upside to grow into, I'd throw Danny Greens name in the mix.

I think we need a 3/4 like Carroll or Prince, to replace what we lost in SJ. Someone who can guard big 3's.

A few weeks ago I would have said:
1. Perimeter Shooting (3 pt shooting)
2. Defensive effort/energy on a nightly basis
3. Players who can create their own shot besides Blake
4. Off the ball movement during Blake ISOs

I'm not sure those are weaknesses anymore.

As far as positions go, I'm still not 100% sure on Thon but he can play backup C, PF, SF in certain matchups and stretches so his flexibility helps for sure. I think 90% of this board would have said wings and starting PG were the biggest weaknesses a few weeks ago as well but many seem to be buying in on Reggie's recent play.

^ We still need a starting 3. Whether that’s the Carolls or Jae Crowders of the world or not, we absolutely need someone to fill that void right now. We’re winning in spite of that and with raw talent. It’s going to catch up to us sooner than later. Especially in the playoffs where that’ll be even more glaringly obvious.

In a perfect world we win the lottery and the bulls win the 2nd pick or 3rd pick and we trade down for a future first round swap, Porter and Dunn for Leuer and Galloway. Then take Barrett. Problem solved...

100% we take Zion if we get the chance(we wont). You dont pass up on a once in a decade talent like that due to fit concerns.

Starting SF/PG and backup Center.

2 semi realistic options that come to mind are Pat Beverly and Mo Harkless. I'd love me some Jakob Poetl but no way Pop is dumb enough to let him go.

The weaknesses are everyone besides blake and dre and maybe ish as a backup. Everything else needs an upgrade. We've got 3 guys starting that are below average to way below average vs other nba starters.

Clearly, our biggest weakness is our schedule. If only we could play all our games against Toronto. :)

Carroll had MASSIVE issues with Casey and won't play for him again. He is also insanely ovverrated as a defender.

Ross would be an excellent UFA to nab. Ross is underrated as a defender.

His biggest defensive issue, is he is always being played out of position as a 3.

When he guarded 2s or 1s in Toronto he did a great job.

He had some excellent games guarding prime CP3 and even against the much bigger Paul George

The biggest weakness of this team is in the head and in the heart.

We got Blake on one leg for Christ sakes.

And the medical staff and coach literally said, "it can't get any worse" and played him tonight.

We're just cursed with bad contracts and injuries. As well as shooters forgetting how to shoot once they enter the borders of Michigan and join our team.

If they have some playmaking too that'd be great.

Those aren't super valuable or hard to get or anything, right?

I'm excited about how the team is playing, but we've got a ways before we should be taken seriously as much besides a fringe playoff team.

This still holds up a month later, other than the part about being excited by his the team is playing.

Our biggest weakness is at the wing, but we probably need new starters at every perimeter position. Consistently shooting and better defense is a must.

In other words, we aren’t there.
