Looks to me its Withers vs King for the final 2 way and Hall vs Wood for the final roster spot.

Unless something better presents itself of course.
We claimed Wood off waivers though. Doesn't he already have a deal?

From what Ive read its non guaranteed so we can cut him at the end of training camp if we dont like what we see.

Based on what little I've seen I'd be keeping him.

Dude dominated the **** league and then put up numbers for the Pelicans. At worat he's a 12th man, development guy we might be able to mold.

The only way he doesn’t stay is he’s awful or a locker room cancer

^I'm sure he has a clause in his contract that he can get out of it to re-join the NBA once the playoffs start. He's still productive somewhat and can be an insurance piece for many teams looking to contend.

Monroe is a scrub.

Any interest in Gallinari? Not sure if he would cost a future, heavily protected first or just an expiring and a young so-so guy like Thomas. He can get buckets and I think we could use him starting at the 3 or coming off the bench, can start at the 4 if Blake goes down as well.

Monroe is no scrub. Of cause many of us are dissapointed that he never become a star as a no.7 pick

But he is a Better Basketball player than maker or woods right now
He is Better than a.baynes....o'quinn......p.gasol......to name some of the guys mentioned here in the past

Yet all those guys are on a roster right now and Monroe isn't.

Not sure how he ended up out of the league but he is.

Anyone know what the story is with him?

It is amazing Monroe is out of the league. Remember when SVG was like, yeah he can come back, but he'll do so on the bench, and then the Bucks were all, we finally made it by making a big splash in free agency by signing Monroe? Whatever positives he could bring scoring, he was truly horrible defensively. He appeared to have lost a step which is awful for someone who started out like he had already lost a step.

Europe isn't horrible though. Once you get used to how "interactive" the games can be, you travel less and play less against easier competition while still living a good life of basketball. Monroe never struck me as egotistical.

I'm sure he could have signed a min deal with someone and stayed in the NBA. He likely got significantly more money than that to head to germany.

** but no, he's nowhere near as valuable as Baynes. If you are going to be a traditional center in the modern NBA, you really have to play D.

Agree with this 100%. Baynes skillset is a much better fit than Monroe's. Or more accurately, Monroe's strengths aren't really valued/needed here (post-up game) and his weaknesses (no outside shooting, poor defense, slow footed) are glaring.

Define “better.” Because in my opinion Monroe is a dinosaur, both relative to his skill set in today’s NBA as well as how he moves.

And that’s probably being too harsh on dinosaurs. I’m pretty sure the velociraptor skeleton at the Smithsonian could drive and dunk on Greg Monroe.

Not yet, but he probably is very close to becoming a scrub in the NBA. The guy started off with a very limited skillset with minimal improvement (if any) so far.
He also seems like someone with no ambition to improve any part of the rest of his game.

This is what drove me crazy about Greg Monroe. He had 4 straight seasons here where he averaged 15/9. The only thing that kept him from being a 20/10 center was a reliable jumpshot... that's it... and he never developed one.

A little Udonis Haslem-like baseline/free throw line jumper would have made his face up game way more dangerous and less predictable. Also would have made him easier to play with Andre and we needed Greg to be dominant on the offensive end because a potted cactus could beat him off the dribble.

Oh well...

I appreciate the optimism Canadafan. I admittedly expect crickets, but you don't lose anything from having mild hope.

Moves happen late in the offseason, it's not that uncommon, it's just less common than earlier in the offseason.

That Iverson trade 4 games into the season was a bit of an anomaly though.
