I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks go all in on Dre.
Gives them the "star" they crave.

And i wouldn't be surprised if that's where he wants to go.
Big market. East coast guy from Uconn. Can focus on non basketball ventures since nobody's winning in New York anytime soon

$22.2M, $24M, $25.8M and $27.6M is pretty reasonable for Draymond.
I'd be ok giving Drummond $20M, $21M, $22M, $23M, $24M over 5 years but we would really regret paying him $25+ million per year.
Which is basically what we did the first extension for Drummond and we ended up nowhere since he didn't become a 20+ pt scoring threat and above avg defense every night ala Prime Dwight Howard. I'd ask him to take 20 million per yr or even less otherwise, no need to hang on to him too tight as if our franchise revolves around him or something silly like that.
I'd look to deal him before the deadline. There's indications he's treating this upcoming season as a contract year. His value may be at their highest point in a while if he tries to prove them wrong for one year. It's telling that there's been no indication of a potential extension just like what Draymond got.

Re: 2019 Off-season Thread
Drummond is eligible to sign a maximum contract extension worth more than $160 million over four seasons, and the Pistons could get off cheap if they strike a deal now.
Drummond failed to make one of the NBA’s three All-League teams, which prevented him from qualifying for a supermax extension that would have been worth $186 million.
Drummond could qualify for such an extension next offseason, but there are indications Drummond would prefer an extension now. The ball is in the Pistons’ court.
Bloody hell, $160M over four - I wouldn't give him more than half that. $20M a year is fair for his services. $100M over four would seem the going rate though with Vuc and Horford FA deals this past off-season. I guess I could live with that number extension. But if Dre tries to leverage anymore - just let him play out the season and let the market set his rate. If he walks he walks.
He does have some leverage in he's not really risking injury when playing out the season as he has a $28M player option.

I wish we had a center of the future I believe in. I don't like having Dre as the only real option.

Yep. Time to spend the next year or so in a monastery praying we don't give Drummond a max contract.
I mean, I don't think we'll do it, but can't be too sure, right? Right?

Re: 2019 Off-season Thread
If Drummond gives a consistent hard effort he will definitely increase his potential trade value, but at the same time will likely be part of a winning season, making it harder to let him go. I'm hoping he plays well enough to be traded for something decent, but not so well that they think of a big extension.

Re: 2019 Off-season Thread
I'd trade Dre & Galloway to New York for Portis, Marcus, Frank & a couple of firsts (2020 top 3 protected or 2021 unprotected, 2022 or 2023 unprotected)
They get their star, team him with Randle, Barrett & Smith, still have money to add to that "core"
We clear another $30 mil in salary, getting 2 likely lotto picks over the next few years as well. Outsource the tank kinda thing.

I don't know if I can watch this team if they give dre anything more than 20 a year.
I'd love to trade him, but I'm convinced Gores wants him around.

Then I can quit.

Fool's gold.
Let someone else worry about his value and overpay for him.

Re: 2019 Off-season Thread
Drummond’s capabilities are undeniable. Say what you want about him, but 18/15 guys don’t grow on trees. That being said, his intangibles are ZERO. Literally none. No leadership, no maturity, no clutch ability, no winning personality/culture. Watching what the team did last year when Blake was out made it abundantly clear in my opinion that Drummond’s presence doesn’t mean wins. Replace him with a 12/9 journeyman center and a couple of good rebounding forwards and in my opinion this team won’t skip a beat. Let someone else think he’s a difference maker and use that to your advantage. Get what you can for him in a trade, get him cheap, or let him walk.

Zero is too much credit. Negative is more accurate. I made excuses for his sulking, horrific body language, and immature attitude for his first three years or so -- after all he was still only 21 at the time.
He'll be 26 next week. Nothing much has changed.

I wish I could And 1000 this. If you combine Ben’s intangibles with Drummond’s skills then you can debate giving him somewhere close to the max to keep him.
Drummond as is with his inflated stats is highly overrated and we’d be better off letting him walk if he continues to get treated like a franchise player. I hate hearing “he’s only 26” - he is who he is.

Dear fellow fans,
I'd like to see Andre Iguodala in a pistons uniform this year. How can we make this happen? What would it take?
Luv Canadafan
PS I realize giving up assets is quite the short sighted move but who cares! Just for fun

How on earth do you actually think trading our 1st round pick to swap Iggy and Snell is a good move? We’re not one move away and this isn’t 2008, Iggy is old and washed up. He could help us on defence a little but this team is so flawed that the minor benefit of defence and the loss of more shooting on offence isn’t a trade off I would want. I almost vomited when I saw your post on the T&T board.

Ummmm, I never said swap Snell.
I'm imagining an RJ and a pick or a Galloway Thon Kyrie and a pick or something along those lines
