Let's talk about this kid. I like what I hear about him.
https://www.nbadraft.net/players/keldon-johnsonsome clips from the above link:
He’s a well-rounded player who’s adept at a lot of things…. Willing to do the dirty work on both ends of the floor ...Has shown the desire to guard his man the full length of the court ... His defensive impact doesn’t show up on the stat sheet ... A winner. A natural leader with very good intangibles ...

I like him, he takes a hit because scouts don’t see him excelling in one particular area. He’s so young and all around skilled though that I see the potential.
I was thinking up a scenario where maybe the Spurs like someone at 15 enough to give us 19 and 29. Could then add some needed depth grabbing Keldon Johnson and Okeke.

Good, we found the next Stanley Johnson.

So because he’s a winner and a natural leader with very good intangibles that means he’s the next Stanley Johnson? Stanley couldn’t shoot. Try again.

Don't get offended, those are just the strengths SJ was supposed to have, so it looks like you're describing SJ a few years ago, and the fact that they share the same name (even tho Johnson is a very common name in the USA made it even funnier for me).
My post wasn't serious tho, I'm just being cynic because I do not believe in our FO and even less in our scouts and it's funny how every fan massively overhype prospects every year and most of them don't end up being NBA material.

I watched some highlights and a scouting tape on him...he seems pretty raw but his jumpshot is much cleaner than Stanley's was. I really liked his toughness as well. He sort of reminds me of the SF version of Bruce Brown.

This is true for every board on RealGM.

I think it's far too early in the piece to make a fair judgement of our FO/scouts. Got to at least give them three seasons before making those sort of calls (especially with the mess that SVG left behind).

That's the excuse they've been using while they get paid, the SVG mess. They've only made it worse, spending 2 2nds in last draft and giving all our money to a guy who is not NBA material at the start of the FA last year. Then they gave away one of our few starter material player and got absolutely nothing in return, that Bullock trade was a complete joke. And to make things worse, they took on future money trading for Maker, who is also a terrible player. The FO is worse than SVG imo. When SVG took over, he improved our talent level substantially via trades.

I was with you til the 2nd-to-last sentence. Gave you the +1 anyway. But nothing this FO did in year one comes anywhere near the debacle that was SVG's reign. You're right, he made a couple nice trades. But those positives were neutered by his many horrific signings.

And it's a fair excuse to use because how should they be expected to turn around our mediocre capped out roster in such a short space of time? Addressing your points:
1. Those two 2nd round picks became Khyri Thomas. He hasn't been given nearly enough time to prove whether he was worth them or not so it is far too early to make this assessment. You failed to mention they also drafted Bruce Brown who looks like he was great value for the 42nd pick.
2. Granted, the GRIII signing didn't pan out. But, unlike the SVG FO, they didn't commit long-term money to him. His team option can be declined this summer and spent elsewhere. No harm, no foul.
3. Bullock was expiring and at the time it seemed like the money to re-sign him was going to be out of our range. So they traded him for Svi and a 2nd (so basically two 2nds which isn't "absolutely nothing", or you wouldn't have made a big deal about losing two 2nds in the Khyri trade). Then they signed Wayne Ellington who provided equivalent production of what Bullock gave us anyway.
4. Maker did show some flashes but at the end of the day he is still developing. And it's only an extra year of salary for a cheap big. We also got rid of Stanley Johnson, which was basically addition by subtraction (our record post trade speaks for itself).
I just find it absolutely ludicrous that you could make such a damning assessment of the current front office after only one season, and those were the reasons you tried to use to justify it. Interested to hear your response though.

The more I read up on Keldon, the more I think he would fit with the Pistons. Especially, being he has the size to spend some time at SF. Mid round picks are hit or miss so may as well give it a shot.

Watched a ton of UK games. Keldon looked awesome early in the years. He was the only freshman ready to compete. But he never progressed like most freshman do.
He is a good but not great athlete. He’s a super hard worker and very young so he might be worth a gamble, but I think there will be several better options at 15.

I would much rather draft his teammate, PJ Washington.

I’d be ok with Keldon but I would prefer Nickeil A Walker, and find a 3&D sf in round 2.
NAW is a better overall talent and could play 1 or 2.
I’d rather get the higher talent level in round 1 and pickup a solid 3&D SF like Daquan Jeffries or Chuma Okeke later on.

This dude balled out in his first summer league game. His j looks so smooth. Sucks he fell to 29 when we had 30.

^Would have been interesting to see if he was on the board at #30 if we would have still traded out.

It was his second game. In his first game he scored 4 points and grabbed 2 boards in 20 mins. Getting 29 pts 7 boards and 3 steals with good shooting %’s in 25 mins is an impressive improvement though. Will be interesting to see how he plays in his next game.

Was hoping he would drop to 30. I think we would have kept him.

I want to remind everyone that Svi was amazing last year and he was not able to get minutes during the regular season. SL is nice to see potential but do not overreact with good performances. Stanley was very good during SL because he was able to dominate physically and then when the season started he was incapable of using those skills.
