Two posts about Drummond's trade value, but none about Reggie's? That doesn't seem right.

He played a full season and had a good playoff. His value won't ever be higher. What is it?

18 million plus change for a starting level PG on his last year isn't too bad. It'd be a nice rental for someone looking to fill a huge void or some desperate playoff chasing team trying to shore up their 7 man rotation and have him come off the bench.

He's going to have some value. It really depends on how desperate teams get.

Now if he still had 2 or 3 years left, then yeah, it'd be in that "equal value trade" territory where both teams don't get better after the trade type of value at best.

There are probably a handful of teams out there that view him as a positive. The money he makes and injury history is probably what makes him harder to trade for anything substantial though.

His value all comes from his expiring deal. But it won't really matter until later in the season when teams look to tear down and have longer term player contracts they want to get out from under.

This point frequently gets lost but it's absolutely true. In the summer expirings hold little extra value, anyone wanting to open money wants immediate relief with plenty of teams around to offer it and most every franchise is set on being their best selves and trying to sell playoff hope to their fans. It's not till all the cap space is gone and teams are looking towards the next summer that the expirings become more valuable.

Don't think a true contender would take a risk on him due to his reputation from his OKC days. I think he could really help someone if he accepted a sixth man role. Only way he gets moved is to a team dumping a contract.

He was okay last year, but still not someone a playoff team would want starting for them.

The potential cap relief is what it’s about. But unless we’re going to leverage that to get draft picks or young assets I’d rather us just let him expire.

Leuer and Galloway are expiring too- they might become movable as well, but less likely to occur in the offseason. Teams tend to prefer immediate cap space by trading with teams who have actual cap space during the offseason.
