Eastern Conference Summer League Notes

Post#1 » by Smitty731 » Thu Jul 25, 2019 12:47 pm

Hey All!

As I do annually, I empty out my notebook from Summer League. This year was REALLY long, so we broke it up by conference. Here is the East!

Enjoy!

Coach on Brown:

“We knew what he could do. We saw it every day in practice. When he got a chance to start, he wasn’t always good, but he was never scared or over his head. He’s a terrific all-around player and will continue to be a big part of our rotation.”

That sounds to me like he's not starting next season. Snell/Kennard? Something else? Not sure what else it would be if not Brown.

Lack of reliable contributors on the wings is going to be a roadblock for us this year unless our youngsters step up. Wing rotation has the potential to be REALLY weak if Brown and Kennard are still the players they were last year.

probably RJ/kennard/snell/griffin/drummond to start, kennard and snell give blake the spacing he needs vs. guys like brown can provide. on the other hand, brown can help rose create offense for the bench while galloway provides the spacing. actually the spacing with the bench should be pretty bad in general which means they'll need multiple guys to create offense.

Bench spacing might be ok.

Rose is first guy off to bench for Kennard.

Rose
Brown
Galloway
Doumbouya
Markieff

I think thats a decent bench. Everyone but Brown is an average shooter. Defense, some playmaking, energy, youth in Brown and obviously Doumbouya.

Better than Jose Calderon and Zaza.
