Stanley's contract is two years guaranteed for $7,427,150, with the second year a player option. No way in hell I'm touching that mistake.

I figured that he’d at least bring solid or better defense to the Raps, but in between making good defensive plays he loses track of his man or just gets lazy rotating/switching and gives up an easy shot. And he appears to think he’s the best offensive player on his team every time he’s on the floor.
This is going to be a long 2 years....

Re: Stanley Johnson
I mean, there's a reason we traded him for Thon Maker. It's not our fault the Raptors didn't pick up on that.
Sad thing is, I really wish we HADN'T traded him for Thon. Thon is a bad contract with one year left on his rookie deal. That's rough.

Some players are a joy to watch. Stanley Johnson is just stressful to watch, everytime the ball is in his hands you expect something bad to happen.

No expirings are bad contracts imo. Could come in handy this season some time.

I thought the same. I really liked the potential but it never happened. The defense was ok but man, that offense.

Re: Stanley Johnson
Stanley is a system player. Toronto needs to retool around Stanley's special skills and chucks. We'd gladly take him back with 2 first found picks, but Toronto clearly knows what a gem they have on their hands. And good riddance!!!!!

Sounds like him. He would have these really great defensive sequences and then lay a dud on offense and eventually yanked. You just can't play him significant minutes without him doing something odd. SVG def wasn't the best coach for him, but it's telling that he's like that with Nick Nurse too.

Stanley's problem appears is to be an unwillingness to accept a role consonant with his skill set. The promising early fighting tooth and nail with LBJ degenerated into spotty defensive efforts and a penchant for taking shots not in line with his efficiency. A mindset more like Bruce Brown's would help. I suppose it's possible to be 'too confident?'

Re: Stanley Johnson
This should really be a poll of who will be out of the league first? Stanley or Thon?
I actually think Thon will be out of the league before Stanley. I don't think he stands a chance next offseason against guys like Wood. Stanley can hold his own with the right coach. Toronto coach isn't the type. SVG coached him well but Stanley didn't listen and kept playing in tournaments instead of training his shot. Also SVG didn't use him right. I believe he's the same case as Draymond Green in the fact that Draymond said he was playing SF and kept missing shots. Had he not played at PF when David Lee got injured, he might've been out of the league. I think Stanley is actually a PF. He's certainly got the strength for it, can definitely box out and defensively post his man. I think he's being misused but I also think he's a running back and not a basketball player.

Pretty happy I'm not a pro scout considering how high I was on SJ.
Just goes to show that you can say all th3 right things but actions speak louder than words!
Never developed his offensive game and while there's a place for defensive wings you still gotta contribute something in the other end.
