Grand Rapids Drive 2019-2020 Season

Post#1 » by GreekAlex » Fri Nov 1, 2019 1:29 am

I never realized the G League season starts this long after the NBA season.

Opening night for the drive is Friday November 8th and I’ll be excited to see Sekou playing and his progress throughout the season.

Hopefully Jordan Bone and Louis King do well. Jordan looked like he had some potential in summer league but Louis wasn’t too thrilling.

My hope is that the organization uses the G League more wisely and finds the next Kendrick Nunn or Christian Wood.

I think bone has a chance to really thrive with the drive this season. he has elite speed and athleticism, it’s just a matter of slowing the game down in his head and running the offense. he has pretty good instincts, so it’ll definitely be worth checking out throughout the season.

Who knows? Maybe a trade happens mid-season and he gets upgraded from his 2-way contract to a standard one...

In other news..... Sekou didn’t start but his box score numbers look efficient tonight in GR.

The Detroit Pistons 1st round pick couldn't even start on a G-league team?

I sure hope that's usual, as it would seem a first round pick would be the best damn player on a G-league team.

I'm not exactly filled with confidence.

eh its the first game of the g-league season and Sekou is 19 years old. I'm just happy he is getting some game reps at this point.

He is the the best damn player in the G-league. The vision is a little longer than an opening day game in the G-league.

Sad to see the organisation has beaten all that optimism out of you bro.

Guess after almost 15 years I can't blame you but it's still sad to see.

Already hitting step back 3s. This dude could be our star player in 3 or 4 years. Hopefully we have enough young pieces to go with him at that time too.

Eh. First game in the D-League.

I’ll be concerned if he’s still getting 19 minutes off the bench further down the road this year. We always knew Sekou was a long term project.

Looks like the rookies did well in their game last night. Sekou, Jordan Bone and even Louis King All put up strong numbers in the box score.

I’m going to look for highlights now

This team could be be a G-League contender. Bone, Doumbouya, Louis King and Donta Hall all showing out already. Sekou seems to be playing PF, getting a fair amount of low post touches. Just needs to get a 3&D SG veteran type to round out that starting five.
