The time is now to start Rose
Cant keep trotting out a 3rd stringer to start our games. Especially with Blake not playing too. Just gonna have to try and keep his minutes down

Re: The time is now to start Rose
I came here to post this. Rose MUST start and up his minutes limit to 30mpg. That is totally reasonable. Heck, Jackson was averaging under 30mpg the past few seasons and has been the starter no problem so there is no excuse. I also wouldn't mind letting Kennard play some back up PG since I think it will help having a good player on floor in that position and also would help keep Kennard aggressive.

Just start Bruce Brown at Point and keep Rose coming off the bench

Re: The time is now to start Rose
This has consistently been the problem with the Pistons in the recent past. In general, players like Rose (at this age/injury history) are supposed to be a bonus to the team but end up becoming the focal point and getting over-used by this team. And, that results in either the player getting injured more often and/or the effective of the player suffering in a major way.
All of that because the management still has not been able to find above average level starters on the perimeter ... since the CBill-Rip era. Just pathetic.

This looks like a good plan after last nights game. Took Casey long enough though to figure out Frasier and Brown in backcourt is a trainwreck

Bruce and Kennard are a pretty good fit in the back court as well. It very well might be the future.

Re: The time is now to start Rose
I think we proved yesterday that, at the very least, starting Frazier is no better than simply not having a real PG.
Either start Rose or start Kennard/Brown.

Re: The time is now to start Rose
You have to start Rose but that is the start of Detroit's ending. He is not a full load PG anymore. Detroit should have kept Ish Smith and gave up Reggie Jackson a while ago. That was the worst $80M I've seen a team spend on a starting PG.

Rose is having the highest usage of his career, that's insane, we need to lower it or we will not have him at the end of the season. 37% USG is insane. He is also having an insane TS% tho (62%), so I don't blame him for his usage.

Re: The time is now to start Rose
We're already burning rose out. People keep saying he played 27 mpg last year. And yeah, that's true. But he only made it 51 games. He probably could have gone some more if they were contending, but they built in a lot of rest games for him as well.

Re: The time is now to start Rose
Not even counting the entire season he missed in 12-13, Rose has missed 288 games in the last 7 seasons. That is an average of right at 41 games a season. Which means he's only been available 50% of the time.
Derrick Rose is the poster child of requiring load management.
People wanting to play Rose mass minutes is just a classic case of short sightedness. They are much more worried about the Wizards game in November, than they are about how is Rose going to hold up in February/March/April.

Re: The time is now to start Rose
He cant play more minutes. Hes already hurt and hes been on a restriction. If anything he needs more rest days and less minutes if we want him to have any chance of not breaking down completely 40 games in.

Re: The time is now to start Rose
Bruce Brown just started at PG and did about as well as Reggie did, while actively trying to get others like Drummond and Kennard involved.
With Blake out or on the floor, Brown is a great choice for starting PG. When Blake is back he can focus more on defense and pick and roll with Drummond. While Blake is out he can focus on getting other people the ball and reducing TO as much as possible.
D Rose is instant offense off the bench. Sorry he cant play with Kennard though, Kennard starts now. D Rose gets Galloway. Sorry man.

Yes, I think this is the best way to do things, would be better if BG was on the floor with Brown, but I've had enough of Tim Frazier. At least Brown can play defense, Frazier can't play defense or offense.
