Ball Movement

Post#1 » by sludgefoot » Sun Nov 17, 2019 1:54 pm

Every winning team, with few exceptions, move the ball to find the open man. Keeping the ball moving (and the players moving) seems the key. The Pistons have 3 non-ball movement guys. Give the ball to Andre within 10' of basket and he will rarely kick it back out. Blake is a 1 on 1 specialist that requires others to stay out of the way. Granted he's good at it, but the rest of the "team play" gets stagnant. Then there is Reggie, with his bounce the ball 15 times, run down the clock, then drive to the basket approach. Am I wrong that ball movement expresses confidence in your teammates, while "over use" of 1 on 1 provides the opposite.

"It was a unique offer, a unique opportunity and one after very, very careful reflection and review, we thought was in the best interest of the franchise in order to build a sustainable team,” he added. “Our goal is to be very, very good for a long period of time and to compete with the NBA elite."

Now the above was the Clippers reasoning for trading Blake! What was the Pistons reasoning? I'm sure, given Blake's age, "a long long time" was not part of their thought process.

A unique offer.

In other words, "Man, they offered us something NOBODY else was ever going to offer us. Not only did they offer us a way out of basketball purgatory but they also gave us a lottery pick! After carefully thinking about it for 1.5 microseconds we decided to take the trade."

Problem is the teams defense is god awful and why we are so bad. They do all seem to just stand around and watch Blake when hes on the floor for whatever reason but our offensive stats dont look that bad like our defensive ones.

Would we rather build a solid well oiled offense, then teach them defense, or visa-versa?

IDK and honestly dont really care anymore. Ive lost so much interest with the NBA and the bi polar Pistons at this point.

Seems like theres a different rotation due to injuries every other game to get any type of chemistry regardless.

I mean when your working with Bruce Brown, Tim Frazier and Calderon as your pgs cause Reggie at 80 mil goes out every year destroying any continuity in both the starting lineups and bench its a problem.

Ill be happy when we lose out and get a top pick and start over. Blame it on Casey or whoever else but nothings gonna change until we bottom out

I have lost all interest save for checking Andre, and Kennards box score.

What's really done me in is watching all if these amazing current young players in the league right now knowing adding just one of them to our current core would make this team sing.

Imagine Giannis at the SF position. Imagine Doncic at the PG. Young at the PG. Morant at the PG. Barrett at the SF.

I'm just fed up with it. Bomb out this season, get a super high pick, and hope for the best.

Who's the next doncic, or Williamson in next years draft?

Not sure there is that next big thing in this years draft unfortunately. Cole Anthony PG out of UNC looks like a good start though if im dealing with a top pick
